SPEAKING TESTS A1 (8-10 minutes)
PART 1: INTERVIEW (3-4 minutes)
The examiner will ask you and your partner some questions. These questions will be about your school, your
studies, daily life, hobbies or your future plans.
1. What’s your name/ surname/ full name?
2. How do you spell your name/ surname/ full name?
3. Where are you from?
4. Where were you born?
5. When were you born? / When is your birthday?
6. How many brothers and sisters have you got?
7. What college do you go to?
8. What are you studying now?
9. Why did you choose to study that?
10. Do you like your studies and your college? Why/ Why not?
11. What do you often do in your free time?
12. What are your plans for the future?
PART 2 LONG TURN (5- 6 minutes)
You and your partner will ask and answer questions about the topic given. The examiner listens to your
conversation and then asks you both one or two questions.
1. Talk about your daily routines. You should ask
and answer about:
• What you do every day
• What activity you like the most/least
• Whether you enjoy your life or not and why
Further questions:
- How often do you do morning exercise?
- Do you often go to the library? What do you
often do at the library?
2. Talk about your ideal/ favourite job. You should
say:
• What your ideal/ favourite job is.
• Why you like/ want to have that job.
• Which activities that job will involve in.
Further questions:
- What is the most difficult thing about your job?
- What do you think are the good qualities of your
job?
3. Talk about your hobbies. You should say:
• What your hobbies are.
• How much time you spend on your hobbies.
• Who has the same hobby as you.
Further questions:
- What are the most popular leisure activities in
your country?
- Do people have more free time now than in the
past?
4. Talk about your recent holiday. You should say:
• Where you went to.
• Who you went with.
• What you did.
Further questions:
- What are the famous places do you recommend
to a tourist visiting your country?
- Are there any differences between what young
people and older people like to do on holiday?
5. Talk about your favourite sport. You should say:
• Which sport you like to play.
• How often you practise it.
• Why you like it.
Further questions:
- How can we encourage young people to play
sports?
- Do you think today people are less healthy than
in the past?
6. Talk about going shopping. You should say:
• How often you go shopping.
• Who you often goes with.
• What you often buy.
Further questions:
- Where do you prefer going shopping: at a big
supermarket or a small market? Why?
- Should people go shopping alone or with their
relatives/ friends?
7. Talk about your favourite season. You should
say:
• Which season you like best.
• What the weather is like.
• What you often do in that season.
Further questions:
- Which season do you think is suitable for going
on holiday?
- Does the weather influence your study?
8. Talk about your favourite TV programmes. You
should say:
• What TV programmes you often watch
• How often you watch them
• Why you like these programmes

- Do you have a TV in your room?
- Do you spend more time on Facebook or on TV?
