C. MOTIVATION
Let me read to you a story. Before I read it
to you, let us recall the steps in listening to a story?

What is the first step in listening to a


story? Sir, sit properly and listen
carefully.

Excellent, what is the next step? Identify the characters and


the setting of the story.

Very good. Are there other answers? Don’t speak when the teacher
is reading the story.

That is right. Now let me read to you


the story.

THE BLESSING OF NATURE

Mang Pedring is a farmer. His wife, Aling


Fe, is a vendor in the market. They have two children.
They love their children very much. On Monday,
Mang Pedring and Aling Fe sold 22 vegetables.
On Wednesday, they sold 31 vegetables. On
Friday, they sold 50 vegetables in the market.
They kept the money to buy food for their family.
Mang Pedring and Aling Fe love their family very
much.

(The teacher will ask some questions.)

Who are the characters in the story? The characters in the story are
Mang Pedring, Aling Fe and their
children.

Excellent! What is the work of Mang


Berting? Mang Berting works as a
farmer.

Good. What is the work of Aling Fe? Aling Fe works as a market


vendor.

Do Mang Pedring and Aling Fe love


their children? Yes, sir.

What will happen if Mang Pedring did


not plant any vegetables? They will have nothing to sell in
the market.

Good! What will happen if they did not


sell vegetables in the market? They will have nothing to eat
because they have no money.

Yes. Let us always remember that the


nature can also help us. We can plant
vegetables and fruits so that we can have
something to eat.

We can also sell them to the market


so that we can have money to buy the things
we need.

Pedro sell on Monday? Mang Pedro sold 22 vegetables.

Good! What about on Wednesday? He sold 31 vegetables.

are asked.)
Let us look again at the bar graph. How did
you know the correct number of vegetables
Mang Pedring had sold? We can look at the bar from the
day that is asked and look for the
number closest to it.

Yes! That is correct.

know what it is all about.

Aling Susan’s farm.

Amazing. Let us take a look again on the


table. How did you know the number of animals
in Aling Susan’s farm? Sir, we can find the number of
an animal if we look at the number
beside the name of the animal we
are looking for.

That’s right.

F. GUIDED PRACTICE

(Present another table on the board)

Now, we will have a game. I will group


you into five. Each group will have a name of
their favourite animal. After that, I will ask several
questions about the table and if you want to
answer, you have to make the sound of the
animal that is from your group.

Do you understand? Yes, sir.

Whoever has the most points shall win the


game. Are you ready? Yes, sir.

Ate Charing’s Pet Shop

Ate Charing likes pets. She takes care of


animals and she loves them very much. One day,
she opened her own pet shop. She has 20 cats,
40 dogs, 15 birds, 10 turtles and 25 fishes.
She loves them all very much.

On the first day, he baked 20 pandesal, 15 monay,
10 ube and 25 pandecoco. Everybody loves to eat
Kuya Dindoy’s bread.
