TotalCare® Bed System Service Manual (MAN112 REV 7) Correction

Since the release of the TotalCare® Bed System Service Manual (MAN112 REV 7), changes
have been made that require updating. Listed below are the page numbers and changes that
require updating. Make these changes in your manual. These changes will be included in
the next revision of the manual. If you have any questions, refer to the service manual’s back
cover for contact information.

6-39 Replace the Bed Scale procedure with this:

CAUTION:
Local Country laws or regulations may require mandatory re-
verification of OIML scales that are certified according to the
NAWI Directive.

For OIML scale beds, do as follows:

Fully raise the bed.

Make sure the bed is flat.
Tare the scale.
Use calibrated weights, and do as follows:
1. Put 100 kg on the bed spread between the seat and chest section.
2. Take a weight reading. The reading must be between 99.5 kg and
100.5 kg.
3. If the weight reading is not between 99.5 kg and 100.5 kg, inspect
the weigh frame for interference. Repair as needed and repeat the
step 2. If no interference is found, calibrate the scale, refer to “Ver-
ify Operation of the NAWI Class IIII Scale (NAWI Class IIII
Scale—European Version Only)” on page 6-10.

If any repairs or adjustments were made or if mandatory re-verifica-

tion after inspection is required by local law, do as follows:
Have a qualified and approved person re-verify the scale. Refer to
Verify Operation of the NAWI Class IIII Scale (NAWI Class IIII
Scale—European Version Only)” on page 6-10.

6-39 continued For non-OIML scale beds, do as follows:
Fully raise the bed.
Make sure the bed is flat.
Zero the scale.
Use calibrated weights, and do as follows:
• Put 200 lb (90.7 kg) on the bed spread between the seat and chest
section.
Take a weight reading. If the reading is between 198 lb (89.8 kg)
and 202 lb (91.6 kg), no further action is required.
• If the weight reading is not between 198 lb (89.8 kg) and 202 lb
(91.6 kg), inspect the weigh frame for interference. Repair as
needed and repeat the weight check. If no interference is found,
calibrate the scale, refer to “Patient Weigh System Calibration
(Non-NAWI Class IIII Scale Only)” on page 4-17.

Test for proper operation of the scale functions and adjustments.
