    Electric discharge machining (EDM) is a non-traditional machining process that uses electrical discharges to erode material from a metal workpiece. EDM allows hard metals and complicated shapes to be machined with precision. The process involves removing thin layers of metal by repeatedly sparking between an electrode tool and the workpiece submerged in a dielectric fluid.
