Ans: Summary

The fruit of the cacao tree is mild tasting, with a subtle, bittersweet chocolate flavour, after being
dried and processed, recognize as "chocolate beans." The cacao tree is cultivated around the
equator, and can be found in the Caribbean, Africa, South-East Asia, and in the South Pacific
Islands of Samoa and New Guinea. Many people believe that the Aztecs first developed chocolate.
The ancient Maya, who inhabited southern Mexico and Central America, certainly consumed
chocolate. Some think chocolate may be even older, dating back to the Olmec civilization that
preceded the Maya. The chocolate of these Mesoamerican civilizations was consumed as a drink
made of ground cacao beans that was said to build up resistance and fight fatigue.

The joint family system


We all are aware that a joint family includes our father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather,
grandmother...etc. A joint family consists of many generations living together in the same home.
A joint family is also called an undivided family. But in today's world it is possible in India only. A
joint family is recognised as a social institution from time immemorial. The beauty about Indian
culture lies in its age long prevailing tradition of joint family. A joint family is much more bigger
than a nuclear family. In a joint family everyone is loved by each other or in a joint family the
bonding is much stronger than a nuclear family.

But while young people are going advanced with their lifestyles, they are shy away from living
jointly with their parents and grandparents. These people are usually missed a lot of fun, caring,

elder guidance from time to time which causes a lot of problems in the future like loneliness,
frustrations, etc.

Question 4. Write a composition of 250-300 words based on any one of the pictures given
below:

A) Elephants
Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth. They have characteristic long noses, or trunks;
large, floppy ears; and wide, thick legs. There are two species of elephant. The Asian elephant and
the African elephant live on separate continents and have many unique features. African
elephants are the larger of the two species. Elephants eat grasses, roots, fruit and bark. They use
their tusks to pull the bark from trees and dig roots out of the ground. An elephant has an appetite
that matches its size. An adult can eat 136 kg of food in a day. In the same way that humans tend
to be right-handed or left-handed, elephants can be right-tusked or left-tusked. An elephant's skin
can be as thick as I inch, but it is sensitive to the sun. To protect it, elephants will cover themselves
in mud or dust. When it gets too hot, elephants will suck water into their trunks and then blow it
back out to shower themselves with a cool mist. An elephant's trunk has more than 100,000
muscles. They use it to breathe, pick things up, make noises, drink and smell. African elephants
live in sub-Saharan Africa, the rain forests of Central and West Africa and the Sahel desert in Mali.
Asian elephants live in Nepal, India and Southeast Asia in scrub forests and rain forests. The
African elephant can be identified by its ears. Stretched out, its ears are shaped like the African
continent. Asian elephants have smaller ears, which are more rounded on top and flat along the
bottom.

Question 5 : You are the Culture Secretary of your institution. Write a report in 250 words
of a meeting held to discuss the forthcoming Annual Day.
Ans. A meeting was held to discuss the forthcoming annual day in the institution. It was very
encouraging to note that all staff members and the students are enthusiastic about the event on
April 16. The Annual Day will be inaugurated by the chief guest, the Member of Parliament in
Noida. It was discussed that invitations should be sent in time to the expected chief guest and
other important invitees so that they can make arrangements in their schedules to attend the
event. Rehearsals for the entertainment programs such as singing, dancing, dramas, etc. to be
performed by the students and teachers will be started weeks before the event. The principal will
monitor all the activities from his office and will be assisted with due responsibilities by all the
heads of the departments and other teachers. All the teachers have been given the responsibility
to organised and supervise all the events in the institute. After the inauguration at 8 am the
students will stage various cultural programmes including a Yoga show, a dance programme and
a musical show. After that, the sports activities will start at 10 am. The staff participating in the
meeting had the view that the senior students have to be made included to monitor various
activities. The meeting also discusses the funds for the annual day. It was decided that the
expenditure will be met from the school budget and expenditure on the dresses used in the
cultural programmes, parents have been requested to pay for their wards. There were also
concerned about the security during the event. The chief of security has been asked to supervise
the security during the programmes. No outsiders should be allowed during the activities. It was
suggested in the meeting that decorations work will be done such as balloons, flowers, banners,
colorful lightings, etc. to make the venue look pleasing and attractive to everyone.

Question 6: A survey was recently conducted in your residential area regarding the
creation and maintenance of green sections which would be strictly for senior citizens and
out of bounds for children. Write a report of the survey outlining both the advantages and
disadvantages of the proposal.

Peoples are very happy about the plans for creation and maintenance of green sections and
they took part in survey to show their concern about whether green sections would be strictly
for senior citizens and out of bounds for children.

The open spaces in cities are shrinking to find a place for the senior citizen for a walk is difficult.
Green section is a good idea for senior citizen they can relax in a peaceful zone. Some people are
agreed that if children will remain out of green section, there will be less disturbance and noise
for others.

This proposal has disadvantages, a place without laughter of children cannot be alive. Without
children senior citizen will feel like they are sitting in an open area of old age home. The children
of the city end up spending their free time either watching television or playing games on gadgets
if they will allowed to be there in green section, children will be healthy. Children playing on the
playground generally seems to be at a more relaxed place in the park.
