COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

TITLE:

CHAPTER 1
1. First paragraph is problem situation of DV with source/s.
2. Second paragraph is the importance of DV and studies/researches on it with
source.
3. Third paragraph is the link of the independent variable/s with source/s followed
by one or two sentences discussion of each IV.
4. Fourth paragraph is the research gap, urgency of the study and contribution to
the literature and new knowledge if any. Number of paragraphs may be increased
depending on the number of IVs.
5. Opening paragraph of the RRL should introduce the variables with indicators
and their sources.
6. Classify RRL into 3 sections- 1st section is the IV/ 2nd is the DV/ 3rd is the
Correlations between Measures. In case there are several IVs and one DV,
sequence of categories should be the IVs, followed by the DV and last is the
correlation between measures.
7. Correlations between Measures is the most comprehensive/important section of
the RRL. It should cover the relationship/influence/effect of IVs on DV with
sources.
8. Employ inventory technique extensively (Example: Davidson, 2014; Lourk,
2011; & Zack, 2013).
9. Employ appropriate transitional devices for continuity of the paragraphs.
10. Avoid starting paragraph with author’s name.
11. Add synthesis in the last paragraph of RRL before the Theoretical section.
12. In the Significance of the study, state the general importance of your study and
the social value of your research. You may or may not cite sources.
13. Importance of studies about your DV. It can be searched from the internet.
14. Theoretical Framework- one anchor theory with 2 supporting
theories/propositions, taken from your RRL in the Correlation section.
15. Conceptual Framework- State each variable with its indicators and the sources
followed by one sentence definition of each indicator.
16. Tables & Figures should follow immediately after the page citing it.
17. Anchor theory/proposition should talk about the
association/relationship/connection between variables, taken from the RRL in the
Correlation between Measures.
18. Observe proper APA citation in text and reference section.
20. Do not start paragraph with “According to”
21. Avoid big vacant spaces within the chapter.
22. Avoid one-page paragraphs or one-sentence paragraphs.
23. There should be at least 3 paragraphs in one page.
24. All paragraphs must have sources.

CHAPTER 2
1. Research Design- cite the author of the design used in your study. Add
justification why the chosen design is appropriate in the study; Justify why
quantitative, non-experimental, and why correlational technique.
2. Research Locale- brief discussion of the locale in relation to the study.
3. Population and Sample-state clearly the sampling technique employed and the
number of respondents included.
4. Population and Sample- state the inclusion and exclusion criteria, state also the
timeframe of the study.
5. Research Instrument- divide it into 2 paragraphs IV and DV; First paragraph is
the IV with source of the questionnaire followed by its range of means; second is
the DV with source followed by its range of means. Additional paragraphs needed
if there are more variables.
6. Research Instrument- the last paragraph should state the overall result of the
validation and the pilot test/cronbach alpha.
7. Data Collection- is like a diary from beginning to end of data collection.
8. Add section for Ethical Considerations (Refer to the parameters specified in the
UMERC form).
9. Follow format for Maps- bigger for the Philippines and smaller for the Research
Locale with arrow pointing from the locale to the Philippines

CHAPTER 3
1. Start the discussion with the overall result followed by the highest to lowest
indicators.

2. Tables and Figures should follow immediately after the page citing it.
3. Italicize the indicators and items taken from the tables.
4. Tables should always start on the top page.
5. Table title in italics should start at the left margin.
6. Table number should start also at the left margin.

CHAPTER 4
1. Follow sequence of discussion in Chapter 3
2. No figures in this section; all in narrative form.
3. RRL used as support to the result should come from the RRL of Chapter 1
4. Be careful in citing an author to support the result.
5. Correlation between Measures and Regression discussions should be
comprehensive compared to descriptive section levels. Cite as many sources
coming from your RRL.
6. Conclusion- is objective-based.
7. Recommendations- is results-based
8. For every result there should be a recommendation
