This past year, my mother has been reunited with her son who she gave birth to when she
was 16. After hearing her story, I had become touched by how brave and courageous she was,
and still is. She found out she was pregnant at the age of 15, most people nowadays would
immediately turn towards an abortion, but my mother didn’t. While she didn’t keep her son
because she knew she couldn’t give him the life he deserved, he was adopted by a wonderful
family who couldn’t have kids themselves. I am personally against abortions and feel as though
they can be prevented, in an easy way, too. The easiest way to prevent pregnancies is birth
control.
Debates over health care amongst women have been going on for a while now. When I
say this, I mean debates over issues such as birth control and abortions. Many women feel as
though birth control and abortions should be available to all, for free. I have heard about this
through the news in recent years, sparking my interest in researching what would happen if this
came to reality. Along with hearing about this topic through the news, my sister is currently
majoring in healthcare and is very active in this debate. While this debate doesn’t affect me
personally, I can only think about those within society who do not have the funds to purchase
Although, some people feel as though this would be a bad idea. The people who oppose
this idea explain that women would take advantage of these benefits, worsening our economy.

But, how can they be certain until they actually take action? I am excited to finally research this
topic and figure out more than just what is on the surface.
Overall, I feel as though this topic can have many different opinions and stories for either
side. So far, I do have a personal side I would choose, considering my connection with abortions,
but I do not know enough knowledge to be certain this is the best choice. What I do know
though, is that this active debate affects many women and even men. I believe that this topic
definitely deserves more attention. The news has lately been focused on President Donald Trump
and the border control debates, a little too much. More events are going on that deserve coverage
just as much. As of right now though, I almost think that healthcare should not be free when it
comes to abortions, as women will take advantage of getting pregnant every time they do. But, I
do think that birth control should be given out as free considering that it could prevent women
To conclude, I am actually very excited to dig into this topic. There is so much
controversy within this topic and I will be able to learn so much while researching. After all of
the research I conduct, digging into both sides, I hope to have decided on what I would support. I
think after looking over reports of how other people feel, along with factual evidence, I will
know my answer. So, should birth control/abortion opportunities be available for all women
through healthcare, for free? And if not, why not? Should birth control be provided for free, but
