Teacher Activity Student Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
I – Prayer Amen…
Our Father…..Amen
II – Greetings Good morning sir..
Good Morning Class
III – Unlocking of Difficulties
Before we start our lesson, let’s be familiar with
some terminologies.

a. Subnet – A portion of a network that shares a

particular subnet address.
b. Subnet Mask – A 32-bit combination used to
describe which portion of an address refers to
the subnet and which part refers to the host.

IV – Review
Let’s have first a review before we tackle our new Sir… 128.10.10.1
lesson. Who can give me an example of I.P Address.

Okay.. Very Good!!!

B. Development of the Lesson

Lesson Proper

Activity

In a classful addressing, an i.p address has five

different classes.
Class A Address
Range: 1.0.0.0 – 126.255.255.255
Host Capacity – 16,777,214 host
Default subnet mask – 255.0.0.0
Purpose - Used for large networks, implemented
by companies and some countries.
Class B Address
Range: 128.0.0.0 – 191.255.255.255
Host Capacity: 256 – 65534 hosts
Default subnet mask – 255.255.0.0
Purpose – Used for medium size companies,
implemented by universities and companies
Class C Address
Range: 192.0.0.0 – 223.255.255.255
Host Capacity: 255 hosts
Default subnet mask – 255.255.255.0
Purpose – Used for small networks, implemented
by ISP’s for customer subscription.
Class D and E Address
*these addresses are used Multicast and Reserved I.P

Analysis

Okay class..Again, what are the three classes of I.P Sir classes of ip address are class a,
Address? class b, class c, class d and class e

Application
And now that you fully understand how to identify the
class of an i.p address as well as its default subnet
mask, let’s have an activity.

I would like you to group yourselves into five (5) groups.

Each group will write 5 I.P Address in a manila paper
either class a, b or c and we will let the representative Grouping…
of other group identify what class does it belong as well
as its default subnet mask.

(After 5 minutes …..)

All the group, please post your manila paper now on

the board. Group 1 will answer the Group 5, Group 5 Posting….
will answer the Group 4, Group 4 will answer the Group
3, Group 3 will answer the Group 2 and the Group 2 will
answer the Group 1.

(After gathering their answers..)

Assessment
For your assessment, answer the following items
displayed in the screen in a ¼ sheet of paper. Read the
instruction carefully.
Instruction: For the given i.p address, write
down what class does it belong and also its
corresponding natural mask.
1. 200.128.10.10
2. 111.24.67.192
3. 55.90.128.1
4. 129.0.0.0
5. 222.11.25.0

Assignment
