Factor Bingo Teacher Notes

The 35 Bingo cards have 24 answer spaces and a free space.

The 12 factor problems will give two answers and fill 2 squares on the Bingo card.
If you would like to make the game last longer, make up factor problems where
only one answer will be found on the Bingo card.
I used the game as a review activity before a quiz. I had a review assignment that
we checked in class and corrected mistakes before playing the Bingo game, so I
only spent about 15 to 20 minutes playing the game.

I wrote each problem on the white board and gave the students time to work out
the problem. I paired weaker students with a stronger partner to help them. I took
enough time for the students work the problems and also wrote the answers on the
board to make sure they all understood each problem. It took about 6 problems for
the 1st bingo and after about 9 problems about 2/3 of the students had a bingo.

I handed out the page of problems from most difficult to easiest for home practice
after the game was over.

I had given a short quiz on factoring prior to giving the chapter review assignment.
I had a small number of students that were really struggling with factoring so I
paired them up with a good student and sent them to work together with the list of
problems and bingo cards to check their answers rather than play the game. I
asked the students in advance if they would be willing to work together and they
all agreed. They also had their quizzes to make corrections in addition to the 12
Bingo problems. I had to carefully select some partners, but felt it was a good
learning experience for the students.
