Time Lesson
Students will enter the classroom and settle in. They will
10-15 minutes choose a book and read silently. I will go over the schedule for
the day, and take attendance. I will remind the students to re-
turn their library books.

Introduction:

I will begin the lesson by handing out, to each student, a strip with
a math equation written on it (example: 7+2 = ?). Each child’s strip
5-10 minutes will have a different equation, however the answer to their equa-
tion will be the same as someone else’s. The students will be asked
to quietly find the student who's equation has the same answer as
them. Once they have found their partner they must stand with
them. I will do an example.
- Good morning boys and girls. As you can see, everyone has a
green strip in front of them. When I say go, I want you to turn
over your paper and read the math equation. First, you must de-
cide what the answer is. Once you know the solution to your
equation, you will look for your classmate that has the same so-
lution as you. I want to remind you that you should be quiet
when looking for your partner and we are walking around the
class, never running.
- Lets say my strip says “5+3=?” What would my answer be? 8,
that is correct. Now, I must look for another classmate who's
equation also equals 8. Thumbs up if you understand. Excellent!
- Now you may turn over your strips and solve your equation. Go
ahead!

Development:

Once the students have found their partners, they will stand with
them. We will go over the equations to ensure everyone solved it
correctly. I will explain to the students that we will now be doing a
math game. We will be using iPads and going on the website ka-
hoot.it. I will explain the expectations for the activity and that they
must be extremely careful when using the iPads. If they cannot be-
have appropriately they will not be able to participate in the game.
