To whom it may concern,
My name is Mallory Munderloh and I am a current student at Alma College. As a graduated
Elementary Education major of Alma College and Michigan state certified teacher, I am interested in teaching in a school that values teacher-to-teacher collaboration and believe that your school would be a good fit. As an educator, I strongly believe in education not as a means to an end to progress students through school, but rather, as the initiation of life-long habits and traits that encourage students to have an analytical mindset and a can-do attitude. I have been able to exercise this philosophy in the classroom on several occasions. Thus far, I have completed my student teaching in Mrs. Andrea Oswald’s 5th grade classroom at Pine Avenue Elementary. I have also observed both Mr. Nevins’ 5th grade class and Mrs. Jill Sandro’s 2nd grade class in the Alma Public Schools for a total of 80 hours. During these observations, I worked closely with students in a variety of subjects. I have also held a position at St. Mary Catholic School in Alma teaching Spanish for kindergarten through 6th grade for two years and have been a substitute teacher in the St. Louis and Alma Public Schools, which has allowed me to practice and strengthen my teaching skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and instruction. Through my experience in the classroom, I have seen that the variety in students is great and their needs are all different. To teach to only a small subset of these needs would deprive many students of an adequate education. I have had the privilege of witnessing some fantastic educators meet the needs of their students with incredible ingenuity, and I aspire to do the same. Being in the classroom has come to shape my beliefs about teaching and has greatly influenced how I plan to teach, as I work to help every one of my students. I hope that through this brief letter, you are able to see that I am strongly committed to providing my students with the best education that I can give them. I would be grateful for the opportunity to teach in your school and would work with dedication to help your students. Included is my resumé. I would be happy to provide you with any other information that you may need in making your decision, as well.
