Pipeline pig traps can be either vertical or horizontal. They can also be single or bi-directional.

The bi-directional traps are of same major and minor barrel lengths and they are directly horizontal
without any slope.

The pig traps usually have a kicker line, a balance line, a pressurizing line and a by-pass line.

There are also drain and vent connections on the trap.
