Duties and Responsibilities of Master Teachers


1. Assume leadership in the environment of instructional programs and preparation of
MT I: in at least two grade levels
MT II: in at least four grade levels

2. Conduct instructional training programs in the school, district or division.

3. Provide professional assistance to teachers like coaching and mentoring

4. Develop and/or implement innovative and functional teaching approaches and strategies every
school year.
MT I: at least one
MT II: at least one

5. Serve as demonstration teacher and/or consultant


MT I: in at least and district level
MT II: in at least school, district and division level

6. Conduct action research.

7. Lead in the analysis and utilization of test results.

8. Perform other functions commensurate within their capabilities, as the principal may assign.

Who could be promoted to Master Teacher?
1. Only those who are actually teaching shall be considered for Master Teacher position.

2. A Master Teacher shall be selected on the basis of the criteria indicated in the MEC. Order no. 10, s. 1979.

Master Teacher I

a) Permanent Teacher
b) Bachelor’s Degree for teachers or equivalent as provided in Magna Carta teachers
c) Very Satisfactory performance rating for the last two ratings/years.
d) At least three years’ experience.
e) At least 25 points in leadership and potential or has been a demonstration teacher on the district level
plus 15 points in leadership and potential

Master Teacher II

a) Master Teacher I for at least one year.


b) Very satisfactory rating as Master Teacher I
c) Bachelor’s degree for teachers or equivalent as provided in Magna Carta) PLUS Completion of academic
requirements for M.A.
d) At least 30 points in leadership, potential and achievements or demonstration teacher on the division
level plus 20 points in leadership and potential provided the activities or accomplishments cited for this
purpose had not been credited or used for earlier promotion

A. Introduced any of the following which has been adapted or used by the school or district:

 CRITERIA: Curriculum or instructional materials


 REQUIREMENTS: Conceptualized with approved proposal by SDS
 ASSIGNED POINTS: 20 pts

 CRITERIA: Effective teaching techniques or strategies.


 REQUIREMENTS: Implemented in the school with evidence of monitoring and acceptance by the SDS

 CRITERIA: Simplification of work in reporting system, record keeping etc.or procedures that
resulted in cost reduction
 REQUIREMENTS: Implemented in the district with positive result outcome certified by school head/
district supervisor

 CRITERIA: Worthwhile income generating project for pupils given recognition by higher
officials
 REQUIREMENTS: Implemented in the division with positive outcome certified by supervisors.

B. CRITERIA: Served as subject coordinator or grade chairman for at least one year.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Grade Chairman with designation approved by SDS and accomplishment report.
2. Subject Area Coordinator with designation signed by SDS and accomplishment report

CRITERIA: Or as adviser of any special school organization for at least two years. Provided such assignments
or services are in addition to, and not considered part of the regular teaching load
REQUIREMENTS:
Adviser of school Publication with at least two published school news letters or
Adviser of School Organization with designation such as SPG, School Rondalla approved by SDS
and accomplishment report, Action Plan, etc.

C. CRITERIA: Chairman of Special Committee


REQUIREMENTS: With designation approved by the SDS and accomplishment report. With action
plan and pictorials
ASSIGNED POINTS: 12 points

C.1. Curriculum Study


C.2. Preparation of instructional materials e.g. ICT, instructional video lesson
REQUIREMENTS: Chairman of School committee designated by the principal Approved by the
SDS
C.3. School Programs
Definite program of the school in any subject area. Where:
1. expertise of teacher is utilized.

D. CRITERIA: Educational Research


REQUIREMENTS: Conducted educational / action research approved by the SDS with
 permit to conduct
 approved proposal
 monitoring report by district education supervisor - Acceptance by
the SDS.
ASSIGNED POINTS: 12 points
Participation as member 7 points

E. CRITERIA: Coordinator of community projects for at least two years


REQUIREMENTS: Coordinator of other agency’s program for rural improvement activity:
 feeding
 nutrition
 agro-industrial fairs
 with approved proposal and action plan - accomplishment
report
ASSIGNED POINTS: 12 points
Participation as member 7 points

F. CRITERIA: In-service Training


REQUIREMENTS: Organizer of Teachers’ trainings / seminars, workshops with
 approved proposal and matrix
 accomplishment report by the SDS
ASSIGNED POINTS: 12 points

G.1. CRITERIA: Credited with meritorious achievements


 Trainor or coach to contestant who received prizes, commendations or any
form of recognition
National winner 10 points
Regional winner 5 points
Division winner 3 points
REQUIREMENTS: As Contest winner (certificate, pictures)

G.2. CRITERIA: Athletic coach of athletes or teams who won prizes
National winner 10 points
Regional winner 5 points

District winner 1 point

REQUIREMENTS: As athletic wins (certificate, pictures)

G.3. CRITERIA: Coordinator of Boy/Scout or Girl Scout Activities
