Dubai is a city located in UAE. It is one of the biggest and busiest megacity. You
might wonder how Dubai became a megacity? The pull factors is that UAE has a
good facility, better service, religious freedom, and it also a clean and save
country. It has affordable health care, higher wages, tax free, and oil production.
That is the reason people chose to live in Dubai. The population in dubai is about
3, 117,289. It is also increasing every year. There are about 15.54 births/ 1000
population and a death of 1.99/ 1000 population. So Dubai is a pretty save
country. The push factors are it is hot in there! It could harm children from the
hotness, so be aware of the temperature. The history of Dubai : from 3000 BCE,
the area was inhabited by nomadic cattle herders. Then the ummayads came to
dubai and introduced Islam. Then the discovery of oil in 1966 and Dubai makes a
currency called rial. Now Dubai has many buildings and man made islands like
the world islands and the palm island. In Dubai there is the tallest tower called
the Burj Al Arab. On the future they are gonna make more buildings and
futuristic things. They are planning to make big malls, skyscrapers and other
structures. Dubai became a desert to a megacity because of oil. There are many
oil in there, the oil what makes Dubai a rich city and a megacity. The
oppurtinities in Dubai is it’s a tax free city. Dubai could be a trading port city. It
can also be an opportunitiy to use renewable energy, like using solar panels. The
solar panels is good to restore energy because Dubai is a pretty hot country. The
temperature in there is about 38 C , it could be higher than that if it is hot. Dubai
could be the biggest megacity in the world. The challenges in Dubai are Dubai is a
desert country, it could be hard to grow plants in the desert. People use camels
for their transportation, because of a hot temperature in there. It is hot at the
morning/ noon but it is cold in the night. Housing, education, and everyday
essentials can be expensive. Dubai also need more fresh water to drink, shower,
and other things. It is also an expensive country, so if you want to go to Dubai
prepare your money before going to Dubai. Dubai is a city also with sustainable
energy, they have solar panels because the temperatire is there is hot. In the
future Dubai will make more solar panels to power up houses. There is a solar
park called Al Maktoum solar park, in there all is solar panels. Dubai wants to
reach the goal of renewable energy. That cost of reaching that goals will be $163
billion US dollars. It take a lot of money, but it is worth it to save the earth. Dubai
is also trying to be an eco friendly city. Dubai plans to generate 75% of its energy
using renewable energy by 2050. Dubai also wants to make the tallest solar
tower in the world. The tower would be 260 meters tall. They also wanted to
plant more trees so it could be eco friendly city. My idea is also using more
transportation that doesn’t really release carbon dioxide ( CO2). So I agree that
Dubai is a sustainable city. So that’s all for Dubai.
