We are seeing mostly the same things at the urgent care, since it is allergy season. We

had a girl who came in early in the week with itchy eyes, and it was due to an allergic reaction

with something that was outside. It ended up effecting her vision slightly as well, so she was sent

home with some eye drops. We often get patients who come in wanting B12 shots, so we saw a

lot of those this week too. I am very familiar with how to fill a shot and what you need to do

while administering the shot. I don’t personally do the shots, just because I do not feel qualified

to give one to a patient at this point.

I am excited to be near the end of this internship. I have really enjoyed it, but now I am

seeing a lot of the same things every day. It is becoming very repetitive. I would like to already

be in a career, where I am making money to support myself. I feel like I have gained a lot of

knowledge from this internship that I can take with me to my next chapter. I know how to

communicate with patients properly, run and take tests, triage patients, and help with tasks

around the office. I absolutely love the staff that I have been working with here at the internship,

and they have played a huge part in making this internship experience enjoyable for me. If I were

to have had a different staff here at Roswell Urgent Care, I don’t believe that I would have
gained the extent of knowledge I have here. A huge part of this internship was having someone

here to mentor me and guide me through how to do things, and the staff here was more than

willing to take the time to communicate this information. They also have been great about

explaining different illnesses and background information to patient diagnosis.

I am increasing my hours the next couple of weeks, since I know that I will need to miss

a few days here and there figuring out times to pick up everything necessary for graduation. I

completed 40 hours last week, and plan to do the same this week. I have already completed the

outline of my Weebly portfolio, so all that I have left to do for that is add on the weekly journals

and my hour log. I am glad to have stayed on top of my course work, because it has made my

weeks very stress-free.
