1. As the top managers of their company, what types of issues might Bert and John have to deal
with? Be as specific as possible. Which management functions might be most important to
them? Why?

One of the issues that Bert and John might encounter is management issues, but it may
vary depending on their surroundings. As top managers of the company they must establish
goals, plans, and make decisions. These are the following issues that may arise as a manager:

 In Communication, an effective teamwork comes with acceptance both from

the manager and the employee. An employee should not feel uncomfortable
with the managers, that way they can openly discuss improvements and
complications.
 In Creating Team Unity, the managers must develop relationship between
employees in order to achieve their goal and it requires trusting to each other.
 In Decision Making, employees and customers mostly depend on every decision
that a manager will establish.
 In Motivational Issue, hiring the right people from the very beginning is very
important. Being top managers, motivation among workers is needed for them
to avoid being unproductive. They must try to fix and work with their workers
and figure out an effective incentive structure.

As the top managers, the most important management functions they needed is to
determine their goals, creating strategies to achieve their goals, and developing plans to
combine and coordinate activities. But as the company start to arise, it means the company
already set its goals, in order to reach their goals, the management functions they needed is to
keep the company stick to their plan.

2. Using descriptions from the case, describe Bert and John’s managerial style. Would this
approach work for other organizations? Why or why not?

From the case study, guided by motto “do what you love, love what you do,” we can
easily determine that Bert and John’s managerial style is for optimistic people and willing to take
actions, wherein you will feel that you are part of the company. In my opinion, this approach
would work in other organizations because their managerial style is to manage people who are
brave enough to act, and simply believe in the bright side of life.
3. How do you think the company’s motto “Do what you like. Like what you do” might affect how
managers manage? Be specific.

The motto “Do what you like. Like what you do” shows what kind of people the
company or managers are looking for to help them achieve their goals. Employees are more
devoted to the company when they enjoy what they do and feel that they will be able to
achieve the ideal career they desire. It is important for the managers to give motivational
support to their employees as it makes them dedicated towards their work. The essence within
the motto can work as an incentive to encourage the employees to rise.

4. What managerial challenges might there be in having friends work for your business? How could
these challenges be kept inconsequential?

Balancing personal relationships at work is complicated. It is difficult to handle friends

working in the same company because some might not treat you as a manager but rather, as
friends. But it is easy to talk with them but make sure they know their roles in the company.
However, there might be certain issues like favoritism and disagreement of ideas that may arise.
In order to keep these challenges inconsequential, it is necessary to set certain rules and remain
professional, by not blending between private life and business.

5. Would you want to work for a company like this? Why or why not?

I would like to work in that kind of company because it advocates and maintains a
stress-free environment for all employees. It inspires the employees to learn and improve their
skills that leads to a positive outlook to their work performance.

6. In what ways would the Life is good managers (corporate and retail store) have to deal with the
challenges of customer service, innovation, and sustainability? Be specific in your description.

 In the customer service, it is important to keep their trust towards the company.
Customers are the source of their income. It is important to identify what are the needs
of their customers in order to make them feel contented. The result of a good customer
service is their customers’ loyalty through serving them high-quality products and
satisfying customer service.
 In innovation, the company should find new ways on how they will comprehend in order
to ensure an effective and efficient organization. There should be good relationship
between the managers and the employee and give proper salary based on their
performance to keep their loyalty towards the company.
 In sustainability, it is important to keep the company remain stable for a long period of
time. Concerns about social and financial demands must be well coordinated to ensure
liable, ethical and continuous success. This will go through combining economic,
