Group application workshop


"Public policy proposals for the sustainable management of natural and environmental
resources"

In a group work, during the second week of the course, students will develop a process of
diagnosis, analysis, and public policy proposal (new or modification of an existing one)
to improve / mitigate a problem of natural or environmental resource management . The
cases to be treated will be inscribed in the four thematic areas deepened during the
second week of the international course (water pollution, air pollution, conservation and
biodiversity, and climate change and energy).

Goals:

1. Analyze the issues associated with sustainable development and the management of
natural and environmental resources in a multidisciplinary and comprehensive manner,
applying the concepts developed in the course in a real case in one of the thematic areas
studied in depth (water pollution, air pollution, conservation and biodiversity, and climate
change and energy).
2. Identify coordination failures and obstacles to the implementation of public policies for
sustainable development.
3. Develop a solution based on the concepts of environmental economics and public
policy, viable to the institutional environment of the case.
4. Defend the proposal in front of the Commission for Sustainable Development, in a role
play.

Day 1: Introduction to the Public Policy Proposal Workshop (Friday 22, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00
p.m.)

• Introduction to the workshop and the methodology to be used


• Formation of working groups
• Introduction to the cases to be treated
• Delivery of the first work schedule (Diagnosis).
