Science Fossil Picture Match Reflection 2
Overall, I believe the lesson I did with my students went very well. On this day there
were 15 students present in the classroom. I decided to give this lesson after the student’s
completed a movement activity at a table setting. I was flexible with my students and gave them
plenty of time to interact and observe the fossils. I made an effort not to rush my students as they
took their time observing and noticing the details of the fossils. Once I felt my students had
settled in and began to settle down from the movement lesson, I decided to start my science
lesson. I placed out all of the materials onto the table and slowly introduced them to the students.
I began by displaying the pictures and then the fossils. I proceeded to explain the lesson and the
expectations for the activity to my students. An aspect of the lesson that I believe went well
would be my students engagement and interest in the lesson. The students seemed to be
interested and highly engaged in the lesson in itself, and eager to learn about this topic.
After I gave my lesson, one aspect of my lesson I believe I could approve upon would be
the timing of when I gave it. Choosing to expect these students to focus after a movement
activity was an unrealistic expectation I had. The students were rather pumped up and although
they were able to participate in the lesson, it was hard to get them to settle down in order to make
the transitions from one part of the lesson to the next. The students were very attentive, but also
very excited and enthusiastic about the lesson. Even though excitement and enthusiasm towards
a learning experience is great, it made it difficult to make this a calm and focused learning
experience. The student’s eagerness made it difficult to keep them remained in their seats,
listening to my instruction. Their excitement lead them to constantly start discussion regarding
Despite the timing of the lesson, I believe it went very well and my students were able to
learn a lot. After my lesson was completed, my students were able to meet all of the lessons’
