Project Name Barnala Mini Dam and Water Supply


Description Barnala Mini Dam is a rain water storage dam with dimentions of
100*90*30 meters and capacity of 300 Mega Liters.
Located in Barnala, district Bhimber, Azad Kashmir.
Objective Main purpose of this dam is to provide clean water for household
and drinking purposes where under earth water level is too deep.
Water is life and people of Barnala region are suffering from
unavailability of this fundamental resourse. This project will
change the living style of poor people and overcome their hard
ships.
People have to fetch drinking water from distant places and are
bound to use dirty pool water for household needs.But after
completion of this project, water would be provided to their
doorsteps.

Project Successes
Name Description
Best Location The site selected for Dam was a rocky land surrounded by
mountains, making a small valley. So just 1 big wall was needed at
front, and a steel grid at enterance to avoid garbage.
Clean Water Due to mountain region, no water purification was needed. We got
clean natural water.
Easy Supply Dam was at height as compared to village, so water supply become
much easier and economical.

Project Performance(Flow)

Time Frame
 Started on 5 April 2018 with survey and construction plan.
 On 10 April, installed machinery and practically started the job.
 Local labour force hired for speeding up work.
 On July 15 summer rain started, have to stop work for 20 days.
 This delay was compensated by more labour and long shifts of job.
 The loading crane was shut due to some fault, so a weak wasted in maintenance.
 Finally almost after 10 months, on 10 February 2019 project was finished and
functional.
 We remained 20 days behind schedule.

BudgetFrame
 Approved budget was 30,00,000/- PKR.
 To manage time delay spent 50,000/- extra on labour.
 40,000/- maintenance expendetures
 Water filteration plant was not in schedule/plan, but at the end it costed
1,10,000/- extra.
 Finally almost 200,000/- rupees gone over budget, that was managed by fund
raising by locals.

Goals Achievement

 Achieved all our goals meeting public expectations and needs.


 300 Mega Liter water storage is ready.
 Rain in last days, partially filled the dam and it is functional now on trial basis.
 Water supply pipeline is working fine.
 Pure drinking water is also available from filteration plant.
 Planning ahead to use this water Reservoir for irrigation purposes.
