· Provided patient-centered care in all hospital settings including: emergency department, medical/surgical
floors and critical care unit.
· Primary jobs included: porter/patient transport, assisting with hospital codes (bringing crash cart to code
blues, assistance with code strokes, providing support during code whites), cleaning patient rooms, stretchers
and public areas to exceed hospital standards.
· Maintained professional communication with all members of the healthcare team.

FIRST YEAR NURSING LAB ASSISTANT | TRENT UNIVERSITY | JANUARY 2019-APRIL

· Skills to be obtained: group practice in a hospital setting focused on chronic disease or palliative treatment.
Practice settings: complex continuing care medicine, rehabilitation, palliative care, high acuity long-term care.
Medication administration, VAC treatments, feeding pumps, patient-controlled pumps, and assessment of
consciousness, orientation, and pain.

ACUTE CARE | A4 CARDIOLOGY/MEDICINE | PETERBOROUGH REGIONAL HEALTH


CENTRE
· 160 hours (January - March 2019)
· Skills obtained: full head to toe assessments, patient and family health teaching, wound dressings with
packing, surgical drains, specimen sample collections, documentation, medication administration, PCA pump
use, chest tube use, respiratory assessments, IV medication administration via continuous and secondary
medication line infusions, heart and neck vessel assessments, interpreting telemetry rhythm strips.
· Responsible for care of two patients while working alongside a primary nurse.
· Demonstrated excellent rapport with unit staff and patients.

COMMUNITY/PUBLIC HEALTH | DISABILITY GROUP HOME | WHITBY

· Collaboratively plan, implement and evaluate a health promotion project relevant to the community
population served.
· Implemented a presentation on digestive health and disabilities to further educate staff members at the home.

MENTAL HEALTH | FORENSIC UNIT| ONTARIO SHORES CENTRE FOR MENTAL


HEALTH SCIENCES

· Skills obtained: medication administration, IM injections, charting, mental status assessments.
· Demonstrate increasing competence and confidence in the application of psychomotor skills in practice
settings.
· Worked alongside a mental health nurse on the forensic unit to care for his/her patient load for the day as well
as having a primary patient for the duration of my placement.
· Interacted with various members of the healthcare team including the psychiatrist, social worker, nurse
practitioner, occupational therapist, RPN’s and medical staff.
· Attended conferences with patients and family members and presented daily patient reports to the team.

RESIDENTIAL AND LONG TERM CARE | HILLSDALE ESTATES | OSHAWA


· 72 hours. Winter 2018.
· Skills obtained: assisting with feeding, lifts and transfers, shower and bath/bed bath residents, basic head-to-
toe nursing assessments, vital signs.
· Established therapeutic nurse-resident relationships in residential long-term care settings.
· Applied assessment data to formulate a nursing care plan based on the needs of the resident.
· Demonstrated knowledge in providing client-centered support for activities of daily living.
