Topic : Treatment of bipolar disorders by brain targeting
of Lithium carbnate with Novel drug Delivery systems.
Outline: The ​aim of this study is to deliver lithium
carbonate into brain by administering it through the
intranasal route using a novel carrier system such as
liposome. As the lithium carbonate is having lot of
peripheral side effects so brain targeting will be done to
decrease the dose of lithium carbonate and side effects.
Lithium carbonate dissolves in blood fast and produces
toxic effects so brain targeting will be of potential use
here. The objectives included formulation of liposomes
and its in vitro and in vivo evaluations, which included
pharmacokinetics of drug in animal plasma and brain.
This molecule has been chosen for brain targeting
because this molecule has the real potential in bipolar
disorders and no work has been done on this molecule
in bipolar disorders and brain targeting.
