Teaching techniques: laptop , Internet connection, conversation, dialogue, exercise, explanation,


observation, listening to a recorded message

Materials: textbook, flip chart paper, worksheet, blackboard, glue, strips of paper, pictures.

Interaction / organization types : T –Ss ; Ss-T / individual work ; pair work

Anticipated problems: Some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the
tasks and they may also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian.

Competences :

2.1.Reproduce language structures / simple short messages using specific pronunciation and
intonation;
2.2.Participate in simple dialogues in areas of immediate need;
2.3.Introduce and identify a person / character / object;
3.2.Identify the global meaning of a simple text on familiar topics;

Aims:
- to complete tasks of vocabulary practice
- develop students’ writing and speaking skills

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:


 use words related to daily routines
 tell the time
 use their knowledge of the English language to solve different exercises

Class description:

 The students in this beginner class are aged between 11-12. They are in their first year of
English, so they are not familiar with English grammar and vocabulary. They are
enthusiastic and looking forward to learn new things. They are still reluctant to speak in
English, but they express themselves in small sentences.

STAGES OF THE LESSON

Stage1: Warm-up

Interaction: T - Ss; S-S


Timing: 5‘
- to introduce the students in the atmosphere of the lesson
The teacher greets the pupils and asks them a few ordinary questions
(Who is on duty today?/What day is today?/How are you today?/What’s the weather like today?).
Teacher checks homework, if any. (exercises 1 and 2 page 56 )

Stage 2: Lead-in

Interaction: T - Ss;
Timing: 2’
The teacher tells the students that they have a new lesson in which they will learn
vocabulary structures related to daily routine. The teacher writes the title of the lesson on the
blackboard and the students copy it in their notebooks.

Stage 3: Communication of knowledge and practice of vocabulary

Interaction: T - Ss; Ss-T ;


Timing: 15’
Skills : writing - speaking – listening
The teacher writes on the blackboard words related to daily routines, translates them into
Romanian and then asks the children to match them with pictures 1-10 from their book. Teacher
asks students to listen and repeat the phrases.
Students write the new phrases in their notebooks, match them with pictures 1-10 and then
repeat the new words with their teacher.

Stage 4: Fast rewind of numbers and Communication of knowledge

Interaction : T – Ss; Ss-T;


Timing : 10’

Skills : speaking, writing
The teacher asks the students if they they remember the cardinal numbers in English.
Then she explains the manner of telling the time using the clock drawn on the flip chart
paper . The teacher writes some examples on the blackboard.
The students answer the teacher’s questions and write the examples in their notebooks.

Stage 5: Listening and speaking

Interaction : T – Ss; Ss-T;


Timing : 5’
The teacher asks the students to listen to a short conversation and then answer to the
question. ( What time does Sam have lunch and go to bed ? )
The students listen to the conversation between Mel and Sam . They write their answers in
the notebooks and then read them out loud.

Stage 6: Fixation of knowledge (practice and production)

Interaction: T - Ss; Ss - T; pair work;


Timing: 10’
The teacher divides students in pairs and shows them twelve clocks drawn on the flip chart
paper. Then she asks students to write the time .
The students complete the task and write the correct answers on the flip chart paper.

Stage 7: Feedback; Assigning homework

Interaction T – Ss
Timing : 3’
Teacher gives some “thumbs up” to the students who managed well during the lesson,
assigning marks if possible and encourages the other students that tried to give correct answers but
failed. Teacher explains homework – make sentences about their daily rotine using the new
vocabulary structures .
Students ask questions regarding the lesson and/or the homework.
