Math 9
Math is used in everyone’s daily life, from an average person looking in their wallet to know
what they can afford to an engineer using algebra in order to find a current in a circuit. In engineering
one must use Ohm’s Law or Kirchoff’s Rule or when starting a new company one must know how much
they’ve spent on materials and how much they need to produce or sell in order to know when the
a way that allows a person to derive unknown quantities such as bank interest, percentages, or
proportions. People can also use algebra when shopping. The way they use it is by taking the amount
they plan on spending, the amount of cash they have or the amount on their debit card. Then the
person can put it into an algebraic equation and find the amount they could spend in total. Engineers
also use algebra to find the current or resistance in a circuit using Ohm’s Law equation, current equals
voltage divided by resistance or I=V/R. They also use a rule called Kirchhoff's Rule, there are two
different ways to do this equation, If a person is to have a series circuit, they can combine the
resistances of the two resistors and just have one big circuit. You take the that big number and divide it
by the voltage. There is also the basic method of solving it, it looks like this, 9-(I1R1+I2R2)=0, It then
subtracts 9 from both sides so it looks like, -(I1R1+I2R2)=-9. They then have to make the equation

positive by multiplying both sides by negative 1, (I1R1+I2R2)=9. This solves for everything in a circuit,
Word problems are also useful. They can be useful when starting a business. Like when starting
a cleaning business, they would need to know how many places to clean, how much to charge, how
much they payed for cleaning supplies, and when they know they’ve made a prophet. So say they spent
$150 dollars on materials and charge 25 dollars per-home, how many houses would they have to clean?
They would need to clean 6 homes because if they charge 25 dollars per home and spent only 150 on
supplies, 6*25=150, so they would need to clean 6 homes. It’s not just cleaning, it’s also helpful if you
sell shirts or food, it’s essentially just the same thing, He buys 25 shirts for 200 dollars, he then puts
images on those shirts for 5 dollars, he then sells them for 10 dollars each. How much did he spend
getting the shirts and printing pictures on them, and how many does he need to sell in order to make
that money back? A person would then have to multiply 5 by 25 then add that to the amount he spent
on the shirts. In total he spent 125 on printing and 200 on the shirts, in total he spent 325 dollars on the
shirts. He would have to sell 31 shirts to make a prophet and make that money back.
In conclusion: different forms of math are important in lots of different ways. Algebra is useful
for engineering and finding the current with Ohm’s Law, or finding everything or one specific thing using
Kirchoff’s Rule. Word problems help with just about everything, mostly cost. From helping one find a
specific cost or a total. By looking at all of this, everyone can say that everyone uses math every day of
