WIRELESS SENSOR NODE TO DETECT

DANGEROUS GAS PIPELINE

ABSTRACT:
INTRODUCTION:
The increase in the development of technology and the
human race, we failed to take care about the surroundings in which we
live in. Thus we polluted the environment and thereby reducing the
quality of the place we live. Even though there are several aspects of
pollution such as soil, air and water pollution, out of these air pollution
acts as the serious aspect as the other can detected visually and by
taste, but the polluted air cannot be detected as it can be odorless,
tasteless and colorless.

Hence there is a growing demand for the environmental

pollution monitoring and control systems. In the view of the ever-
increasing pollution sources with toxic chemicals, these systems should
have the facilities to detect and quantify the sources rapidly.

Toxic gases are one that causes serious health impacts, but are
also used in industries in large quantities. These gases have to be
monitored; such that increase in the normal level of them could be
known and proper precaution measures can be taken. But the current
systems available are not so portable and are costly and difficult to
implement. So an embedded system is designed using 8051
Microcontroller, for the purpose of detection of hazardous gas leakage,
which in turn avoids the endangering of human lives.
EXISTED MODEL:
The paper describes the performance and functional
characteristics of wireless sensor node in monitoring the parameters
such as CO2 and light around the pipeline structure.

In this prototype two sensors i.e. gas & LDR are used to detect the
environment around the gas pipeline. If these sensors detect, then
controller will track the location using GPS and sends information of
that location using RF.

PROPOSED MODEL:
The sensor node consists of various sensors to monitor the
values of CO2 concentration, temperature and relative humidity.
Each sensor outputs are amplified by the gain amplifier . The
maximum gain of an amplifier is selected to obtain the reference
voltage of the analog to digital converter (ADC). The filter circuit is
added with the output of the gain amplifier to reduce the noise
level of the amplified output. The filtered analog signals are given
as inputs to the 10Bit ADC modules of the micro controller. Low
power micro controller is contributed for computations,
conversion and data transmission of the proposed system. The
input power supply required to operate the micro computer is
3.3V.

CONCLUSION:
Gas leakage is one of the major problems in Industrial
sectors and causes heavy economic losses and serious
environmental pollution, this paper provides identify exact
location of gas leakage and the intimate via ZIG-BEE. Thus it
ensures easy maintenance and enhances safety as well as
provides low power consumption and cost effective system.
