QUESTIONS CERAGON

1. User calls the IT Service Desk and says that he/she doesn't have internet connectivity.
What do you do in this scenario? Name 3 basic questions that you ask the user.

Considering the scenario you presented me, I would ask the user about the following
issues that should not be neglected:

a. The second question related to this problem refers to if the network cable was
inserted into the computer (if the LAN is connected to the WAN and vice
versa, the WAN is not functional)
b. The third question is whether it has a valid IP address, which can be verified
by accessing the router on the operating system or on the internet browser it
uses. (for Windows Operating System Main Menu → Settings → Network and
Internet → View your network properties → Verify that the Default gateway
is correct according to the router brand and model or administrator
configuration. In the Browser (Mozilla Firefox for example) → access the
router interface by typing the default gateway. A login session appears where
we enter the username and the password and check if there are any problems
regarding to IP Addresses or DHCP).
c. The first question related to this problem is to check whether it is encountered
on a single site or on all the websites it accesses to make sure that internet
connectivity is actually down.

2. Draw the basic network diagram, from the media convertor, located outside your
house/apartment to the end device (e.g. computer, tablet, smartphone).
3. User calls the IT Service Desk saying that their pc doesn't turn on. Name 3 main
questions that you ask the user.

Considering the scenario presented above, the following questions can be asked;
a. I would ask the user if it checked that the device was powered by a
functioning power source, or it is possible for the laptop to be out of battery.
b. The next step that the user should do is to check if the position on the switch is
on, otherwise he should move it to that position.
c. Check that the electrical system is working, for example by charging a phone.
d. I would suggest it to unscrew the center unit and check if all wires are
connected to the motherboard.
e. If you really pressed the correct Power button to turn on your pc.

4. How do you install a network printer if you know its' IP address?

The steps required to install a network printer if we know the IP address:

a. Click the Start button
b. Write Control Panel and enter
c. Click on Devices and Printers
d. From the top of the window, click Add a printer
e. In the newly appeared window, we wait for the printer to be detected
automatically and give the next one and wait for the operating system to finish
f. If it is not automatically detected, click "The printer that I want is not listed"
g. Select "Add a printer using a TCP / IP address or hostname"
h. At Device Type we select TCP / IP Device and at hostname write the IP
address of the printer, press Next and wait for Windows to finish configuring
the printer
5. Wi-Fi is not working because of a static IP address. What do you do to resolve the
issue?

The PC has a static address that is not part of the router address group. Making the switch
to Dynamic Mode via DHCP sets the right address and works.
To make the transition from Static IP to Dynamic Ip, we take the following steps:
a. We go to Start
b. Write Control Panel and press Enter
c. We go to the Network and Sharing Center
d. From the left side, click Change adapter settings
e. Right click on the wireless network card and select Properties
f. In the window that appears, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP /
IPv4)
g. Click on Obtain an IP Address automatically and make it OK
h. Close the wireless adapter's properties window by clicking Ok

If we still want to keep static IP, we are interested in the address pool of that router
and set it together with a subnet mask, default-gateway and DNS server correspondingly
using the above steps except that we select "Use the following IP Address".
