BEHIND THE BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGY

What we can see nowadays is a society that has been dramatically changed due to the
evolution of technology. In recent times, technology has reached new levels of advancements and it’s
taking over everywhere. In every places we go and in every people we encounter, we can observe that
everyone seems to have an advanced technology with it, showing that technology nowadays is already an
absolute need and plays a vital role in most aspect of our lives.

Technology is a huge contributor to the well-being humankind. It continues to evolve in many ways
that assist us in our daily lives. That’s why above all these things and luxuries we continue to use, we can
clearly state that technology became an integral part in our lives bringing so much benefits to us.

Immense opportunities are being provided by technologies which play an important role in human
life. In terms of education, we can see nowadays that learning system have developed. In every schools,
we can observe that there are televisions, DLP, computers, and laptops which are used to help the
educators to enably teach their lessons and the students to fully understand the topic. In terms of
medicine and healthcare, the advancement of technology pave way for the doctors to cure more
individuals, save lives, and fight every harmful bacteria and viruses.

In addition, technology has also benefitted people with special needs by providing them hearing
aids, text readers, and special chairs which have helped the PWD to enjoy their daily life without having to
think about their disabilities.

But above all these things, the main advantage of technology is to make our lives easier. Due to the
efficient and convenient technologies that were created, our lives became less time consuming and more
feasible. There used to be a time when executing simple task like doing laundry would take the most of
the day. Thanks to the modern technology, a lot of burden has been lifted up from our shoulders and we
have more time and energy to do what we want. Appreciations to technology, people can already
communicate over vast distances and can gain access to information and answers to their questions very
quickly.

When mentioning about how technology impacts our society, people will think of it as a positive influence.
That’s true, however like what Isaac Newton said in his third law of motion, “For every action, there is an
opposite reaction”. Indeed, technology is beneficial to us, but at the same time, it brings negative
consequences.

The main disadvantage of technology is it reduces the opportunity for employment. Because of the rise of
highly-automated machines and engines which are faster to work than humans, there is no need for some
companies to hire much more employees.

Second, due to the excessive involvement of family members with various devices, the relationship with
family members is weakened. Although in a few cases, parents resort to technology to communicate with
their children, this is not adequate nowadays.

Third, technology has made access to education easier but it’s also resulting in weakening the memories
of people as some students just tend to search online their projects and assignments.

Another disadvantage of technology is that, it poses serious health problems. People are sleep deprived
nowadays since taking their eyes of their gadgets become a hard task to make. This leads to eye vision
problems, cancer, obesity, and more.

In addition, the rise of technology has also caused an increase in crime rates. Cyber bullying, Depression,
Rape and scams have risen because of it. Moreover, due to technology, we became lazier, we prefer
sitting always, playing games, listening to music, online surfing instead of playing outside, walking, going
outdoor, or performing outdoor which requires physical activity.

To sum it all, above the benefits, it looks like technology is being used imprudently resulting in affecting
the society negatively.

As a conclusion, there are several impacts of technology on our lives but there are several downsides too.
We cannot abandon technology now but we can ensure not to let it control us.
