V. Pre-lesson assignment, knowledge and/or skills


Students will have read The Catcher in the Rye and takes notes upon each
event that they think has an impact in Holden’s life. Students must also be
familiar to what a timeline looks like. Students will be able to do this project
singularly or in a group of two.

VI. Lesson beginning/hook


Students will be introduced to JD Salinger and The Catcher in the Rye’s
main character, Holden Caufield. The book will be read separately or in class
depending on the day and schedule.
VII. Instructional Plan

1. Students will have read The Catcher in the Rye.


2. Students will analyze Holden and highlight main events happening throughout the
story.
3. Class will take notes and go through book one more time to see if they would like
to add anything else important.
4. Class will split into partners or work by themselves for the duration of the project.
5. Students will work on their timelines. They are free to make it artistic as they feel.
6. Students will be given about three to four days to work on this.
VIII. Lesson Wrap-Up
Students will have the option to present their project in class. After
presenting, the projects will be lined up in a gallery-like setting.
