Graduate Practicum Learning Contract

Practicum Goal and Focus


The goal of this practicum is to learn how nurse educators’ function as the instructor of and online course. For this practicum I will be one of three instructors
of the VLDD online course offered at SUNY Delhi. This is a non-credit course was developed to teach future educators eLearning strategies they can utilize in
the online learning environment. Throughout this practicum I will learn the role of a nurse educator by functioning as the instructor. I will collaborate with
the other instructors to develop methods for teaching the course. I will evaluate the students based on the grading rubrics on a weekly basis as well as
complete their final evaluation. Finally, I will learn how to communicate with the students and help keep them engaged with the course and learn new
information.

1 While I did not have the opportunity to formally interview an online instructor, I did have a couple meetings with Dr. Digger where we discussed the
expectations of the role.
2 There was not a structured rubric for grading assignments. I used the assignment instructions as a guide to grade the students.
