ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The internship opportunity I had with LOHIA GROUP was a great chance for
learning and professional development. Therefore, I consider myself as a very
lucky individual as I was provided with an opportunity to be a part of it. I am
grateful for having a chance to meet so many wonderful people and
professionals who led me to this internship period.

Bearing in mind previous I am using this opportunity to express my deepest

gratitude and special thanks to the Senior Engineer of Machine Shop, Lohia
corp. limited, Mr RAGHAV UPADHYAY who in spite of being extraordinarily
busy with his duties, took time out to hear, guide and keep me on the correct
path and allowing me to carry out my project at their esteemed organisation
and extending during the training.

I perceive as this opportunity as a big milestone in my career development. I

will strive to use gained skills and knowledge in the best possible way, and I will
continue to work on their improvement, in order to attain desired career
objectives. Hope to continue cooperation with all of you in future,

Sincerely,

ANKIT PATEL
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Lohia Corp Limited is the flagship company of the Lohia Group and a global
supplier of machinery for end-to-end solutions for plastic woven fabric
industry used for packaging systems for solid bulk materials and infrastructure
applications.
The company was incorporated as Lohia Starlinger Limited in 1981 as a joint
venture with Starlinger & Co. GmbH of Austria for manufacturing of Circular
Looms. It has changed its name to Lohia Corp Limited in March 2013,
consequent to the exit of Starlinger as shareholder.
We since inception set a vision for the company to be an end-to-end supplier
of the machinery & solution for the plastic woven industry. Accordingly, after
fully absorbing the know-how for the Circular Looms, we expanded our
portfolio in 1984 by adding tape extrusion line & winders in our production
program. Continuous investments in upgrading the in-house manufacturing
capabilities together with state-of-the-art research & development facility and
commitment to build world-class knowledge base assisted by qualified
technicians, engineers and managers led not only to up-gradation of weaving,
extrusion & winding technologies but we also added products like lamination &
coating, conversion and PP multifilament extrusion lines. Today, we have full
range of machinery in each of the technology vertical to cover almost the
complete range of end use application of the plastic woven fabric.
We in Lohia Corp believe that good quality products need equally good pre &
post sale technical support services including prompt supply of spare parts for
the customer to realize the benefits of the technology over the complete life
cycle of the machinery. We have invested in systems and capabilities of our
human resource assets to service our worldwide customers on time and
efficiently. We have our offices in strategically important markets equipped
with sales & servicing support including spare part warehouses and are
networked through capable & committed sales agents to remain close to our
customers.
We have delivered till date accumulated plastic processing capacity of 2.5
million tons with installation base of more than 1,000 extrusion lines & 40,000
Circular Looms in over 75 countries producing almost full range of plastic
woven fabrics & packaging solutions for our worldwide customers.
GENERAL MACHINING PROCESSES

TURNING
Turning is a machining process in which a cutting tool, typically a
non rotary tool bit, describes a helix tool path by moving more or
less linearly while the work piece rotates.

Types of inserts in turning

 Positive Inserts: Positive inserts are the first choice for

internal turnings and external turning for slender
components.

 Negative Inserts: First choice for internal turning and
heavy cutting conditions
FACING
Facing is lathe operation in which the cutting tool removes the
metal from the end of the work piece or a shoulder. Facing is
machine operation where the work is rotated against a single point
cutting tool.

DRILLING
Drilling is cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut a hole of
circular cross section in solid material. The drill bit is usually a
rotary cutting tool, often multipoint.
BORING AND REAMING
Boring is a process of enlarging a hole that has already been
drilled (or cast) by means of single point cutting tool.

Reaming is process of enlarging hole, it is usually same as boring

with less stock removal and fine surface finish.

GROOVING
Grooving usually applies to a process of forming a narrow cavity of
a certain depth, on a cylinder, cone or a face of the part.

  Multiple grooving
  Plunge turning
 Ramping
MILLING
Milling is cutting process that uses a milling cutter to remove
material from the surface of the work piece. The milling cutter
is rotary cutting tool, often with multi cutting points.

 Down milling;

The insert starts it cut with a large chip thickness. Always use
 down milling for best cutting conditions.
 Up milling

The chip thickness starts at zero and increases to the end of
the cut.
MACHINE SHOP
Machine shop is place where machining is done. In a machine shop,
Machinist use machine tools and cutting tools to make parts of metals
or plastic.
In the Machine shop of Lohia corps limited various types of
machines where found from Hi tech CNC lathes to manual turning
centres and milling machines. Some of the are given below:-

GODETS
In the machine shop majorly Godets are made on large scale and
comprises of one of the longest machining process chains. It goes
through about 14 stages of machining process. Godets are of three
types NORMAL GODET, HOT GODET and COOL GODET and has a
wide variety on the basis of length and diameter ie. 318 and 436
diameter and length varies from 800,1000,1200,1600 and 2000
according to the output capabilities of the plant. The various
machining process are given below in the form of a flowchart for all
the three types of godets.

CONCLUSION
It was a complete useful experience working at the LOHIA INDUSTRY. The
friendly welcoming workers and staff and the space they have created for a
intern allowed me with full opportunities to learn and know myself as a
worker. This experience brought out my strength and also the areas I needed
to make up. It added more confidence to my professional approach built a
stronger positive attitude.

During my training, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges that came along every
single day. I learnt that this is just a beginning of the road and I have to travel a
long distance to be a successful person in this field. But I must say that this
experience will prove an objective in my career in the manufacturing industry.
