Reflection: (What have you learned about your students? How will this inform future instruction?)
After doing this lesson, I learned that a lot of the students have some idea about taste, but they don’t have a solid footing on why foods fit into the
category. For example, some of the children put lime in sour, but they only did it because it looked like a lemon. Another example would be when they put lemon in
sweet because they know lemonade can be sweet. I also learned that they understand sweet better than the other types of taste. This will inform my future
instruction because I see now what needs to be worked on. I will create a lesson that allows the children to actually taste the food and talk about how it tastes.
After they taste the food, I would take each food they tasted and tell them what type of taste it fits into. I think this would help them determine where foods fit into.
After that lesson I would go back with this lesson and see how their answers have changed.
