Description
The Models “GPR-6” and “GPR-24” Shear-Out
Safety Joint are upstrain-type releasing tools with a
heavy-duty rotational lock mechanism that allows high
torque ratings to be transmitted to the lower gravel pack
screen assembly. They are designed for use between
the gravel pack extension and the sand screen to pro-
vide a means of releasing and retrieving the packer and
gravel pack extension. They can also be used in any ap-
plication where an upstrain-type releasing tool is re-
quired. The “GPR-6” provides 6 inches of seal surface
after the tool is sheared; the “GPR-24” provides 24 inch-
es.

Features / Benefits
• Non-welded key/lug design allows for high torque
ratings, ideally suited for horizontal or highly
deviated wells
• The torque rating in ft-lbs is approximately equal to
the OD in inches x 1,000 ft-lbs/in. (eg, the 3-3/4 inch
tool has a rating of 3,500 ft-lbs)

Ordering Instructions
Specify the Product Family Number, model, size,
threads, and shear value desired. In determining the de-
sired shear-out force, the weight of the pipe and equip-
ment suspended below the tool should be considered.

XTools are assembled with all shear screws. Remove screws as required
