Action is of paramount importance to writing, it's the entire reason you participate in writing.

Sometimes it's a simple paragraph introducing yourself to a group of people, and other times, you're

only attempting to save the world. It's mostly simple to use the rhetorical situation, and context, to

decrypt the action a writer was trying to invoke.

Deliberation is basically the entire rest of the writing process, it involves every choice you make

in writing and takes lots of things into account. The action you've decided to write for, the design

choices you make and even the overall message of your piece of writing. I've learned during this course

that much of the deliberation you take as a writer are inherent to the process you take as a writer and

are mostly unconscious until you learn differently.

In my flash narrative, I begin and end with reference to time, this was a deliberate choice for a

few reasons, the largest reason is my mind is that it was important and impactful when the event was

happening, which would hopefully translate well to the type of story I was required to write. It seemed

like the logical beginning and ending to the event.

"It's exactly 12:03 as we begin walking, I always like to time exactly when I start, it's comforting to

know exactly how long it took from start to end, and you can compare the distance traveled to the total

time” “It's 10:53 and we haven't actually discussed it at all, but we all agree, it's time to head home."
“The bright orange of the surrounding landscape is beginning to dull slightly as the light fades.”

Deliberation can take place in a few different ways, sometimes you make choices because you

feel like they are purposeful to the action you are attempting to cause, but other times you make

choices because the writing requires it. I included many sensory details and dialog excerpts in my

flash narrative in an attempt to make my story feel more real, and relatable to readers. I've used sensory

details in my personal writing as well, to help people understand and relate to experiences in an attempt

to convince them to come with me to things. One example would be to dramatically describe a hike to

try and get people to come with.

Ultimately, the writing process hinges on the ability to properly deliberate, you will always need

to plan and make choices in your writing and only you will be able to decide what actions you want,

and consequently what choices to take in your writing.
