2010-11 Basketball Pre-game

1. Review recent new rules

a. Guidelines identifying and removing a player who exhibits signs of a concussion.
b. Permissible headband and wristband colors was changed to include any single solid school color
c. Address the unsporting acts of a player leaving the playing court for an unauthorized reason
d. Requirements for guards, casts and braces and that a protective face mask shall be worn molded to the face.
e. Ball is at the disposal of a player when it is available after a goal and the official begins the throw-in count.
f. Clarified that when the ball is awarded to the wrong team, the mistake must be rectified before the throw-in ends .

d. Proper wearing of uniform – tucked in, roll tops, etc…

e. Mercy Rule – 6 minute qtr., 40pt @ halftime (ask coach), 30pt @ 4th qtr

f. Lead covers ball below the FT line extended – “T” make certain that the “L”is
covering the ball

a. Work the system (crew of 2 / crew of 3)

b. Call in your primary and trust your partners to do the same

c. Manage the game – highest level of concentration – softest touch
 d. Clock awareness & Last second shot – everyone have an opinion

e. Find and referee the defense – see the start, middle & end of a play
f. Crew communication & eye contact
