PART II: Answer the following about your article

ARTICLE 3

1. The objective of the research presented in this paper was to (underline):

a. Measure the concentration of As in drinking water of Bangladesh

b. Research the possible dose-response relationship between As water levels with the incidence of
melanosis and hyperkeratosis, caused for this element.
c. Research the possible dose-response relationship between hepatic enzyme activity, with the
concentration of As in the drinking water of Bangladesh.
d. Performance hepatic function tests to As-exposed persons in Bangladesh and measure the
levels of As in samples of nails and hair to these persons.

2. According to the article, which is the most important way of arsenic biotransformation? What
findings support this fact?

3. In the section Assesment of arsenic exposure says: “The detection limit of As was 0.03 µg/L”, this
means that (underline):

a. The maximum As concentration that can be measured with ICP-MS analysis is 0.03 µg/L
b. The permissible As limit concentration in the well water of Bangladesh is 0.03 µg/L
c. ICP-MS analysis only measures As concentration in increments of 0.03 µg/L
d. Arsenic concentrations lower than 0.03 µg/L cannot be measured with the ICP-MS equipment

4. Analyze Table 1. Make 2 lists: in the first one, write the characteristics (See 1st. column) in which
there is no variation between the values of groups (columns lowest, low, medium and high); in the
second list, write those characteristics in which there are significant variations between results.
After, write a short explanation about the criterion you followed for answer. Write everything in
Spanish.

5. Which are the impacts of research results presented in the article?
