1. GENERAL
1.1. INTRODUCTION
Iranian Gas Engineering & Development Company (I.G.E.D.C) has intended to perform a 48"
gas transmission pipeline from Koohdasht to Naftshahr (Border of Iraq) which is branched off
from IGAT VI pipeline for export purposes. With this regard, the Pressure Control Station (PCS)
and Border Metering Station are considered at Koohdasht and Naftshahr respectively.

1.2. DEFINITION OF TERMS


Within the context of this document, the following definitions are applicable.

1.3. SCOPE
This document includes minimum requirement in order to provide “Architectural Design
Criteria “for basic and subsequently detail engineering of the "Koohdasht-Naftshahr 48" gas
transmission pipeline".

3. DESIGN AND MATERIALS (TYPICAL)

3.1. BRICK WORK


External brick walls are to be doubling walled with 10cm partitions and rock wool
insulation and one side faced for buildings which have to observe 19th. Subject of
Iranian national regulations of construction. According to the dimensions shown on
the drawings.

Internal brick walls are to be 100mm or 220mm.THK. According to the dimensions


shown on the drawings.

3.2. WINDOWS
There are two kinds of windows. In areas which in them saving energy is essential
according to 19th. Section of national construction regulations of Iran Windows shall
be made of double glass (4mm& 6mm) with PVC frame and to include special stays
to provide the maximum ventilation area. In other areas Windows shall be made of
4mm glass with metal frame and to include special stays to provide the maximum
ventilation area.

3.3. DOORS
Wooden Doors:
All internal Wooden Doors made of soft wood frame (200 × 60 × 35 mm) each side
of doors, Inter locking 5 mm. THK. Soft wood grid strips 50 × 50 mm air cells. All
wooden doors frame to be SEPANTA profile. No: 86-1.
Aluminum Doors:
The doors and doors frame of pantry shall be of aluminum sheets basically with
Aluminum Frames. The dimensions of the doors shall be in accordance with the
appropriate drawings.
PVC doors:
In areas which in them saving energy is essential according to 19th. Section of
national construction regulations of Iran all external doors shall made by PVC sheet.
The dimensions of the doors shall be in accordance with the appropriate drawings.
Metal doors:
In areas which in them saving energy is not essential according to 19th. Section of
national construction regulations of Iran all external doors made by metal sheet.
The dimensions of the doors shall be in accordance with the appropriate drawings.

3.4. FINISHING
Finishing of internal walls are cement plaster (coating, 25mm.THK.) and whiting with Gypsum or
white cement (Surface, 5mm.THK.)

3.5. GLAZED WALL TILES


Glazed wall tiles should be fitted in according to the dimensions shown on the
drawings. (Exp. 2000 mm High for shower & Lavatory rooms)

3.6. LINTELS
Materials and construction have to be in accordance with the drawing.

3.7. PAINTING
All exposed non galvanized steel work and doors and doors frames and walls shall
be rubbed down and painted two coat of approved paint.

3.8. FALSE CEILINGS


Ceiling to be constructed at 2400 mm. high for shower, lavatory and pantry rooms.
Other ceiling high and material to be accordance with drawings.

3.9. ROOF CLADDING


Galvanized corrugated roof cladding shall be steel sheeting pitch fixed to steel
purlins.
Bolts, Hooks & accessories shall be galvanized.

3.10.WALL CLADDING
Wall cladding shall be in accordance wind the appropriate drawing.

4. WORKMANSHIP (TYPICAL)
4.1. GENERAL
The building shall be erected to the entire satisfaction of the engineer in accordance
with the drawings, complete with all fixings and weathering.

4.2. BRICK WORK


Bricks shall be laid on a full bed of mortar. Single frogged bricks shall be with frog
looking upper most. All joint to be filled with mortar. Where plaster or rough laid cast
is to be applied to brickwork faces, joint shall be packed to provide a key. In dry
weather, bricks shall be wetted to prevent them absorbing moisture from the mortar.
All brickwork shall be set out and built to confirm to the dimensions and sizes with
openings, etc., as shown on the drawings.
Brickwork shall be carried up evenly all rounds and no part shall be carried more
than one meter above the general level. Openings to brickwork shall, where
possible, conform to eliminate cutting of bricks.
Brickwork shall be finished with a neat struck weather joint and be free from mortar
discoloration upon completion.
Brickwork shall be laid in alternating courses of headers and stretchers to break
bond and finish 220 mm minimum thickness. All joints shall be truly horizontal and
vertical and no broken bricks or bats other than those necessary to from bond shall
be used.

4.3. DOORS
The contractor shall ensure that the door frames and doors are set straight, plumb
and level and operate satisfactorily after fixing is complete to the satisfaction of the
engineer.

4.4. WINDOWS
The openings shall show at least 3mm tolerance all round. The exterior joint
between building openings and frames shall be raked out to a depth of 10mm and
the grooves thus formed shall be caulked with mastic cement of an approved make.

4.5. CEMENT MORTAR


Brickwork shall be laid in cement mortar mixed by volume in the proportion of 1:5 or
1:6 according to 55 publications. The cement mortar shall be composed of Portland
cement and sand. The ingredients shall be thoroughly mixed dry with sand and

cement before the addition of water. No mortar shall be made which cannot be used
within one hour of mixing.

4.6. ROOF COVERING


Roof covering shall be delivered in standard sheets to suit the drawings, erection,
cutting, bolting etc., Shall be undertaken strictly, All galvanized damaged during
erection shall be made good by the contractor with approved galvanizing paint. All
repairers to supporting structural steel primer shall be executed prior to
commencement of cladding, and supporting steel shall again be inspected for
primer after the completion of cladding operations. All transverse roof joints shall be
bedded and painted mastic for at least the depth of the lap. Insulation is to be fixed
in accordance with the details shown on the drawings.
