electors of the City who vote on the proposed increase at an election on such adjustment to be called and held pursuant to the provisions of Amendment No. 373 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, and specifically conditioned upon and to be offset by corresponding reductions in the rates of those ad valorem taxes heretofore levied and collected for school purposes on property located in the City’s school tax district pursuant to the provisions, respectively, of Section 2 of Amendment No. 3 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, now appearing as Section 269.02 of the Recompiled Constitution of Alabama of 1901, of Amendment No. 218 (as amended by Amendment No. 407) to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, and of Amendment No. 305 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, and RESOLVED FURTHER, that the local legislation necessary to authorize the aforesaid adjustment as reviewed by the Council be advertised by the City as required by law prior to the introduction thereof at the current Regular Session of the Legislature of Alabama, and RESOLVED FURTHER that upon enactment of the said local legislation, the Mayor is authorized to take such steps as may be necessary or desirable to provide for an election in the City on the proposal at such earliest date as may be convenient in order to ensure that there will be no be no interruption in the collection of ad valorem tax revenues for the benefit of the public schools in the City, such steps to include, without limitation, the execution of such agreements, memoranda of understanding and other documents between the City and the Huntsville City Board of Education respecting the subject matter of this Resolution as may be necessary or desirable to carry out the provisions hereof, and RESOLVED FURTHER that a copy of this Resolution, certified by the City Clerk of the City, be provided to members of the Alabama legislative delegation representing the citizens of the City.
