Meteorological Analysis (Based on 0530 hours IST)
♦ The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu &
Kashmir between 3.1 & 4.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked. However,the trough aloft
in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly
along Long 80°E to the north of Lat 30°N.
♦ A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from 22nd April.
♦ The cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level over southeast Rajasthan and
neighbourhood persists.
♦ The cyclonic circulation extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level over south Chhattisgarh and
neighbourhood persists.
♦ The trough/wind discontinuity from Marathwada to Comorin area across Interior Karnataka &
interior Tamilnadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.
♦ The trough of low at mean sea level over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining central parts of south
Bay of Bengal persists.
♦ The trough in easterlies over Equatorial Indian ocean and adjoining Comorin area at 1.5 km above
mean sea level persists.
♦ The cyclonic circulation over east Assam & neighbourhood persists extending upto 0.9 km above
mean sea level persists.
Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 24th April 2019
♦ Meteorological sub-division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table-1.
♦ Day maximum temperatures are very likely to rise by 3-5°C over most parts of the Northwest and
central India and by 2-4°C over Gujarat and interior Maharashtra during next 2-3 days. No significant
change likely over the rest of the country during this period. They are likely to remain above normal by
2-3°C over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during next 24 hours.
