Dear Mrs. Stubbs,

Please accept my application for the teaching assistant position advertised on the La Petite
Academy website. I am looking to further develop my childhood education skills by having the
opportunity to create an engaging, creative and playful education environment. The
elementary school age group appeals to me because these students are developing a
relationship with the world around them and I would like to foster their curiosity and growth.

I have the skill set necessary to meet the demands of a child centered environment. I am
currently studying education and I have an extensive volunteer/work history. I have worked as
a camp counselor, household manager, daycare assistant and I have volunteered as a classroom
assistant, yard supervisor, lunchroom attendant and most recently I was afforded the
opportunity to teach a series of art classes in a group home.

I enjoy engaging with children on their level by reading, playing, and singing with them. I am
most comfortable with directing small groups of children and helping them navigate their daily
schedule. In addition to my experience I am developing my lesson planning as well as my
computer skills.

I would love the opportunity to come in for an interview so that I can show you my current
lesson plans and further discuss my developing role as a childhood educator. Thank you for

Dear Ms. Pibbs,

I read with interest the job posting for an assistant teacher at ABC Elementary. I am currently
employed as the third-grade assistant teacher at The Friend’s School, where I have been for
three years. I am interested in the position at your school because of the diversity of your
students and teachers. I feel that a larger district would allow me to utilize more of my skills in a
more stimulating environment.

As well as my experience with children in the classroom, I am a certified physical therapist,

which I feel gives me a broader perspective which I can share with the teacher and students. I
have successfully helped my teacher to integrate movement into her classroom, and I believe
that the students have benefited from learning to use activity to focus their energies on
learning.

I enjoy assisting children daily in the classroom and helping their teacher to implement his or
her curriculum. I believe that my experience, as well as my organizational and communication
skills, would be an asset in your school.
