ABSTRACT

PADAYAO, MARUJA DELIMA, Central Bicol State University of

Agriculture, Pili, Camarines, Sur. April 2019. ADMINISTRATION OF

PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS IN CAMARINES SUR.

Adviser:

The study was conducted to take a closer look and better understand how

the parochial schools in Archdiocese of Caceres are administered. It particularly

looked into the administration of parochial schools in Camarines Sur along with

the different components of management for school year 2017-2018. It described

the profile of parochial schools; determined the management practices employed

by the school administrators along the management the different functions;

assessed the extent of compliance of Parochial Schools to the requirements of

DepEd; determined the issues and concerns encountered by the schools along

management; and proposed initiatives that may be recommended to address the

issues and concerns.

Descriptive, evaluative, and developmental methods of research was

employed in the study involving 5 parochial schools in Camarines Sur. A

researcher made survey instrument was used in gathering data about the

management practices, extent of compliance to DepEd requirement and issues

and concerns of the respondent schools.

Results of the study revealed that parochial schools were governed by the

Archbishop of Caceres followed by the superintendent, school director, principal

and they serve as the board of trustees. Here was however, a school who have

a director instead of a superintendent. Parochial schools in Camarines Sur is

being patronized by parents as reflected in the data for enrolment. All schools

has classrooms, faculty room, library, and children’s playground. Parochial

schools rely on donations and income generating project were conducted for

funding source.

Management of parochial schools in Camarines Sur adheres to the

different management functions. The schools always employ the management

practices along staffing, directing and controlling but often practice along

planning. Almost 80 percent of the schools employed practices along organizing

and always foster good relationship among employees.

Major issues and concerns identified includes unbalanced workload and

unclear designation; inefficiency of administrators, faculty and staff; lack of

parental involvement; conflict between administrators and subordinates and

unstable financial status. A set of initiatives was developed to be recommended

to parochial schools. It is consist of a series of activities that will involve various

stakeholders of the school.
