Arturo Luz was born on Nov.

20, 1926, in Manila, Republic of the


Phillipines
Studied: painting at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Santo
Tomas in Manila, the Art School of the Brooklyn Museum in New York,
and the Académie Grade Chaumière in Paris
1994: Received a diploma from the California College of Arts and Crafts
in Oakland
Married: Tessie Ojeda Luz.
 Paintings: Bagong Taon, Vendador de Flores,Skipping Rope,
Candle Vendors, Procession,
 Self-Portrait, Night Glows,Grand Finale, Cities of the Past,
Imaginary Landscapes. His sculpture of a stainless steel cube
Awards
1992: received the first prize award at the First International Art Salon
in Saigon, Vietnam.
 And he also receive award from the California Art Association;
1996: The Republic Cultural Heritage Award for painting of the
Philippine Republic
1995: He was chosen the "Outstanding Young Man in Art" by the
Manila Times
 Luz was a founding director of the Metropolitan Museum Manila
Served in that position from 1976 to 1986

 He owned the Luz Gallery in Makati

 1995: his work was on exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum

He is a versatile artist,

printmaking, graphic designing, painting and sculpting
 He has done a series of figurative works drawing inspiration from
Balinese art and culture, his power as a master of colors largely
evident in his large four-panel The Seasons
