The journal of popular music had a special issue in January 2019 which is the intersection

between pop music and magic.13 This issue showed that popular music is magic.14 Before some

artists start to performance, and they are following rituals.15 For instance, a Japanese hip hop artist,

whose name is Hime, uses a magic language to transform and preserve his gender identity.16 When

some artists perform, they add a scenario, which is people are already dead, such as Billie Holiday

and Tracy Chapman.17 Audiences and critics often say they are mesmerized by the performers.18

The articles should not exceed 10,000 words but must include abstract between 100 and

150 words, and editors only consider articles written in English.19

In conclusion, the Popular Music journal impact factor is not high, which means not many

people will read the journal about popular music. Another reason is this journal’s article was

written by scholars; plenty of contents are theoretical and academic article.
