6. Clarification request, please formulate the request clearly and where possible in a
format that enables a YES or NO answer:

1) Concerning clause 6.2.1; Is a certification body required to fulfill applicable clauses of

ISO/IEC 17021-1 when it uses internal resources for evaluation but the evaluation
includes NO activities that can be considered management system auditing and the
scheme does not specify ISO/IEC 17021-1 as a requirement?

2) Concerning clause 6.2.2; Is a certification body required to outsource evaluation to an

external body that fulfills applicable clauses of ISO/IEC 17021-1 when the evaluation
includes NO activities that can be considered management system auditing and the
scheme does not specify ISO/IEC 17021-1 as a requirement?

1) Question 1: no, the certification body is only required to fulfill the applicable ISO/IEC 17021-1
clauses when it conducts evaluation activities that includes auditing of management system
