Some high school and college students have part time jobs. They do them at different times;
before school, after school, and at weekends. Some people believe it is good. By doing part time jobs,
students earn money and learn to be independent. They help themselves and their families financially.
They appreciate the value of money more than students who just ask their parents for it.
Some people, however, think that students should not work. They believe that students have two
full time jobs already: growing up and going to school. According to them, part time jobs make the
students tired. The students can not study well. They tend to lose their temper easily. They also tend to
fall asleep. For these people, education is more important than money. Students should not do part time
jobs.
What about summer job? Summer jobs are part time jobs, too. However, summer jobs are done
during the summer months, when students have a long holiday. Everyone seems agree that doing
summer jobs does not harm students. In fact, it is good for them, at least for those who can not afford to
travel to places of interest. Doing nothing make life dull. A long holiday without activity bores students
and some may even get into trouble. Doing summer jobs keeps students busy. Moreover, they earn
money and experience life. They can learn things from summer jobs that they can not learn at school.
Summer job is a change from school life; and a change is as good as a rest.
There are numbers of summer jobs. Some high school students wash cars; others, especially
girls, baby-sit. Some students work in shops, others take care of lawns and clean houses. College
students love to do jobs related to their fields of study. However, they seldom to find them, and are
usually happy with what they can get. Some college students type theses; others drive taxis. Some
works on farms and others paint houses. Whatever they are; summer job can be excellent way for
college students to explore different fields and see what interest them.
