A Detailed Lesson Plan in Earth and Life Science

I- OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the learning activities, the learners are expected to:
A. Describe the different ways of how representative animals reproduce.
B. Perform various activities depicting animal reproduction.
C. Show appreciation on animals’ role in the ecosystem by citing ways on how to protect them.

III- PRODCEURE

A. ACTIVITIES

1. Preliminary Activities

a. Interfaith Prayer
May I request everybody to please rise for the Interfaith Prayer
b. Attendance
Your attendance will be checked through a seat plan, once I look at your chair and it is vacant, I
will mark you absent.
c. Drill / Review
I have prepared a word hunt where you will hunt 6 essential words from our previous lesson
and to our new lesson this afternoon.

a. What are the different processes of plant reproduction?

b. What are the plant parts where asexual reproduction occur?
d. Motivation
How would you feel if you will be seeing plenty of Dr. Yman around?
2. Activity Proper

A. Activity “SUSMARYOSEP!” Game

You will be grouped into four. Through a maze, you will connect the parents’ pictures to their respective
offspring. As soon as you are is done answering, you have to shout the word SUSMARYOSEP! The first
group to finish the activity will be the winner.

Concept: Each offspring has parent organisms. Most offspring resembles to their parent
organisms because of their inherited traits.

B. ANALYSIS

1. For the group who was able to identify the offspring of their parents right away, what was your basis
in identifying the parents to their offspring?
2. For those who were not able to match the parents to their offspring, what made you confused?
3. Have you ever wondered how different animals reproduce?
4. Why do you think we have to learn and understand what is reproduction?
5. What do you think will happen if animals don’t reproduce?
For this afternoon, you will learn the different ways of how different animals reproduce.
C. ABSTRACTION
Teacher’s lecture and presentation of the lesson on Animals’ Reproduction through power point.
1. What is the difference between sexual and asexual reproduction?
2. What are the different processes on how animals reproduce asexually?
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of sexual an asexual reproduction?
4. What is the importance of reproduction?
5. What is the role of reproduction in the ecosystem?
6. What would be the implication if animals cannot reproduce asexually?
7. What will happen to our ecosystem if there is an overpopulation of animals?
8. What do you think will happen if humans reproduce through binary fission?
9. How will you show appreciation on animals’ role in balancing the nature?
D. APPLICATION
Group Activity
CREATE A CREATURE!
 Draw a creature in a ½ manila paper
 Describe how the creature reproduces asexually
 Describe 1 advantage of reproducing this way
 Describe 1 disadvantage of reproducing this way
 Name your creature
Your work will be graded through the following criteria:
ART RUBRIC Outstanding Very Satisfactory Satisfactory Fair Needs
5 4 3 2 Improvement
1

On task
I use my time well. I
was focused on my
task.
Composition
The art element are
balanced and work
well together
Creativity
The art was unique
and shows own ideas
Work quality
The art is carefully
made.

IV- EVALUATION

Direction: For items 1-4, match column A to the correct answers in column B. Write the letter of the
correct answer from column B on the blank provided before the number. Items 6-8, raw a line to
connect the process of reproduction to an example of animal below.

______ 1. The body of the parent breaks into distinct pieces, each of which can produce an offspring.
______ 2. Females produce eggs that develop without fertilization.
______ 3. Asexual reproduction that can do so simply by dividing into two equal halves.
______ 4. Parent organism creates a bud from its own cells, which then form the basis of the offspring
organism and develop into an organism resembling the parent

B.

A. BUDDING B. FRAGMENTATION C. BINARY FISSION D. PARTHENOGENESIS

5. WASPS 6. HYDRA 7. BACILLI 8. CORALS

C. Agreement

In your Science Folio, enumerate the processes of animal reproduction and draw one example of
animal for each. The same rubric in the application will be utilized in rating the students’ output.

Thank you and God bless!
