players
Enzymes soften the oil bearing cell walls in
the palm fruit for easier oil release
• Loosen oil bearing cell walls
• Increase cell wall rupture during digestion and screw-pressing
• Less oil in press fibre and unbroken cell in sludge waste

10
Enzymes break down (hemi) cellulose and
reduce undiluted crude palm oil viscosity
• Enable early oil harvesting
• Considerable less need for hot dilution water
• Reduce palm oil mill effluent generation
• Speed of separation is increased in the clarifier tank
• Potential to downsize downstream equipment

Recovery

• Water and Palmora® are added through a novel applicator system to the mass passing digester (MPD) at screw conveyor

• Recommended process conditions: 300 – 350ppm Palmora®, 2.5 – 3.0% water, up to 30 minutes enzyme reaction,
temperature 65 - 85oC

Enzyme has an advantage over control in
OER
Enzyme vs control has an advantage of 0.71% OER at 95% confidence level,
though it’s still under suboptimal trial condition*

*30 minutes residence time of enzyme reaction is

recommended for optimal result but only about 18
minutes was recorded throughout the trial

14
Enzyme has an advantage over control in
oil loss reduction of 0.25% (wet basis) at press fibre

15
Enzyme has an advantage over control in
oil loss reduction of 0.20% (wet basis) at heavy phase
