Exam Requirements
Before moving on to taking courses for my Bachler’s degree at UNLV, NSC, or UNR I
must first pass all three Praxis Core Exams. Failing to do so, would result in the negation of
registering for any Education course in all three universities. The passing scores in Nevada are
Exam Preparation
Before taking the practice Praxis Core Exams I carefully read through all the descriptions
and followed through with its sample questions. I searched other examples on the internet and
practiced them over a period of two days. I believe that I should have studied the sample
questions longer and more varied. While completing the exam I realized that there were some
equations that I had not used since high school. This proved to be a problem because I took
longer on those questions then necessary. I also noticed that my vocabulary is not as strong as I
would have hoped it to be, giving me other things to strengthen before taking the real Praxis
Core Exams.
Exam Results
For Praxis Core Math I scored a 79% which is considered borderline passing. Meaning
that I must keep working on my knowledge in some areas. Looking into the Basic Diagnostics, I
can see that I must focus on Statistics and Probability while having Geometry as my strongest
area. For Praxis Core Reading I scored a 45% which was described as needs significant
improvement. Viewing the Basic Diagnostics, I need to improve in all the areas in which the
exam focusses on. For the Praxis Core Writing I was able to achieve a 78%, which again, is
considered borderline passing. In the Basic Diagnostics it stated that I need to work on Text
I have not yet taken my official Praxis Core Exams but, after taking this practice tests I
have been shown in what areas I need to work on, in each subject, to pass my official exams.
After reading about Ed Ready, I have decided that I will be use it to improve knowledge in math
and score a high passing grade on my Praxis Math Exam. I will also try to find other online
programs that will help me better understand how to correctly answer literary questions,
especially those similar to the ones asked on the Practice Praxis Reading Exam.
