About HOPE FOR KIDS INTERNATIONAL
We are Christians committed to giving hope to orphans and vulnerable children that are living in desperate situations
around the world. We believe that, as followers of Jesus, we are called to "Seek justice, encourage the oppressed;
defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow" (Isaiah 1:17).

What Do We Do?
Hope for Kids International works in partnership with Kids Alive International around
the world to provide quality holistic care to orphans and vulnerable children, their
families and communities. Our vision is of a world where every child grows up in a
loving family and has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We seek to bring
lasting change through the practical care that we provide.
We accomplish this through several types of programme, including:
Children’s Homes, where our House Parents provide 24/7 care to children in a safe,
loving atmosphere.
Care Centres, where children come each day to receive food, clothing, and education.
At the end of the day the child goes home to their family, often to a house with a dirt
floor and no electricity or running water.
Schools, where we provide a quality education for children who would otherwise have
no access to school. In addition, we provide a meal, medical care, tutoring and
devotions.
Community Programmes, which provide vital support to the whole family – including
education, medical care, vocational training, and help with the development of micro-
enterprise opportunities.

Where Do We Work?
We work in partnership with Kids Alive International (www.kidsalive.org) ministries all
around the world in:
Africa Latin America Middle East
Kenya Haiti Lebanon
Zambia Guatemala
Sudan Dominican Republic Europe
South Sudan Peru Romania

South Sudan Peru

How Can You Help?
 Pray: We believe in the power of prayer. Please join us in praying for our children, staff, missionaries
and the communities in which we serve.
 Child Sponsorship: You can pray for a child and support them financially for £20 a month. You will
build a relationship with ‘your’ child and help them break the cycle of poverty!
 Hold a Fundraising Event: Hold a coffee morning, run a marathon, do a cycle ride or another
sponsored event—and raise funds to help care for children!
 Join a Short Term Team: Participate in a life-changing experience and an opportunity to serve in the
name of Jesus. Teams work together towards a goal such as leading a children’s programme, helping
with construction or making improvements to a Children’s Home.

Fundraising Tips
We hope that the following fundraising tips will be helpful to you as you think about raising funds
for Hope for Kids International...

1) Know what you’re talking about! Make sure that you can help people understand why
you are raising money for Hope for Kids. Read up about our work, so you can explain what
we do and how the money you raise will make a difference in the life of a child.
2) Ask permission. You will need to do this if you want to collect money in a public place. If
you are collecting money on private property, remember to get the consent of the owner
or manager first!
3) Spread the word. Consider how best to publicise an event. This might include giving out
flyers, putting up posters, relying on word-of-mouth, putting information in the local
newspaper or on radio. Use our sample poster, flyer, press-release and letter templates!
4) Use the internet. Share our website address, where people can read more about us and
donate online. We can even help arrange for you to have a webpage through our website
so that people can send sponsorship money to us quickly and easily – and we will tell you
who has given to your cause and how much you have raised!
5) Find a ‘funding match’. Some employers operate a scheme where they will ‘match’ the
total figure you raise for charity. Find out if this is a possibility!
6) Be organised. Make sure you have planned thoroughly. Think about the date (will lots of
people be able to come?) and the venue (do people know where it is – and is it big
enough?). Plan well in advance – don’t leave your planning until the last minute!
7) Articulate your goals clearly. Make sure that you can explain what you are doing and why
in thirty seconds or less! Can you sum up your goals in less than twenty words?
8) Get other people to help! People will get excited by your enthusiasm and may want to
help. If possible, let them – the more people that buy-in to your vision and goals, the
better the response to your fundraising efforts will be!
9) Start with people that know you. These people will be the quickest to listen and want to
be involved in what you are doing. Make a list of family, friends and others that you see
regularly that you can invite to participate or make a donation.
10) Get people to Gift Aid their gifts. If people are taxpayers in the UK, we can claim an extra
25% on their gifts – provided they have completed a Gift Aid form. Remember to ask us for
more information about this!
11) Don’t forget to say “thank you”! People want to know that their support is appreciated.
Thank them personally, send notes to people that have donated – and let us thank people
on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages too!

[TITLE OF THE ARTICLE – MAKE THIS CATCHY e.g. Grandfather will ride from John O’ Groats to Land’s End
in aid of some of the world’s poorest children]

[INTRODUCE YOURSELF]
[SAY WHAT IT IS YOUR ARE DOING]
[SAY WHO YOU ARE FUNDRAISING FOR AND WHAT THEY DO]

Example: Former hydraulics engineer Colin Gibbs from Yeovil aims to cycle nearly 900 miles from John O’ Groats to
Lands End over fourteen days in August in aid of charity. At 72 years old, Colin has chosen to do the challenge in
support of Hope for Kids International, a Yeovil-based charity that provides quality holistic care to orphans and
vulnerable children, their families and communities, in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.

[GIVE A QUOTE]

Example: Colin says: “I’m not quite ready to hang up my cycle clips yet! Cycling is a great way of keeping fit and is a
great adventure! This is for a worthy cause - I know that Hope for Kids International supports programmes helping
people in South Sudan which, like many parts of Africa at the moment, is a very difficult place to be a child. We have
so much and they have so little; I want to help these kids have life."

[GIVE DETAILS OF THE EVENT – DATE / TIME / LOCATION / WHOSE INVOLVED ETC...]

Example: With his dedicated support team, in the form of wife Margaret and daughter Rosemary, Colin will start the
ride from John O’ Groats on August 9th together with his son-in-law, Stuart.
Not one to take life easy, this is not the first time that Colin has cycled from John O’ Groats to Lands End. He has also
cycled extensively in the French Alps.
Colin and the team leave Yeovil for Scotland on August 7th and the ride itself starts on the 9th, finishing at Land’s
End on the 22nd.

[GIVE CONTACT DETAILS / SPONSORSHIP DETAILS / FOR MORE INFORMATION ETC...]

Example: People can sponsor [YOUR NAME] by contacting [GIVE PHONE NO. OR EMAIL] or via the Hope for
Kids International website - www.hopeforkids.co.uk
