A MOTHER’S SACRIFICE

Poverty separates you and me

So poor, you wanted to flee
Being away from us is the only key
To get us out in the cage of poverty.

You endured so much for us

In other country you wipe dust
Scrubbing all that rust
No room for the word disgust.

Our life became better

But look at you, pale as a paper
Weighing like a feather
I know, you can’t take any longer.

We get the things we wanted

But rejoicing I must forbid
As I see you exhausted
And not having enough sleep.

This fruit of yours is making a pledge

That someday I’ll turn you into a queen
Build you a house; around fifteen
The life that you dream.
