Analyzing and Interpreting data / Analisis dan mentaksir data
1. Write the ionic equation for the reation between an acid and an alkali.
2. Calculate the number of moles of sodium hydroxide solution that reacts in this experiment.
3. (a) Calculate the heat released in Experiment I (strong acid)
(b) Calculate the heat released in Experiment II (weak acid)
[ Specific heat capicity of teh solution = 4.2 J g-1 C-1; Density of solution = 1 g cm-3 ]
4. Calculate the heat of neutralisation for the reaction between
(a) Hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution
(b) Ethanoic acid and sodium hyroxide solution
5. Draw an energy level diagram for the neutralisation of an acid and an alkali.
6. Compare the heat of neutralisation of the reaction between ethanoic acid and sodium
hydroxide solution with the heat of neutralisation between hydrochloric acid and sodium
hydroxide solution. Explain why?
7. If Experiment I is repeated using a bigger polystyrene cup, predict the rise in temperature
that occurs. Give a reason for your answer.
8. Give two reasons why a metal container such as copper container cannot replace the
polystyrene cup in this experiment.
Conclusion
