Scripture Passages and Prayers

Week 1
Lesson 5

Isaiah 64:8 Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.

Week 2
Lesson 2

Mark 1:29-31 29As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to
the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed
with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to
her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began
to wait on them.

Mark 5:22-24 22Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he
saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little
daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she
will be healed and live.”24 So Jesus went with him.

Mark 5:35-43 35While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of
Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why
bother the teacher anymore?”

Overhearing[a] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just
36

believe.”
37He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the
brother of James. 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue
leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing
loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and
wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him.

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the
disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took
her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little
girl, I say to you, get up!”).42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to
walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely
astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about
this, and told them to give her something to eat.
Luke 7:11-15 11Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples
and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town
gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother,
and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with
her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he
said, “Don’t cry.”
14Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and
the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15 The
dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his
mother.

Mark 9:17-27 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is
17

possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it

seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth,
gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out
the spirit, but they could not.”

“You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay

19

with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw
the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around,
foaming at the mouth.
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”

“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or
water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help
us.”

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who
23

believes.”

Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me

24

overcome my unbelief!”
25When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked
the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you,
come out of him and never enter him again.”
26The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy
looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus
took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

Luke 19:1-10 1Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by
the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was
wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he
could not see over the crowd.4 So he ran ahead and climbed a
sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to
him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house
today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the
guest of a sinner.”
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and
now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated
anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because
this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek
and to save the lost.”

Lesson 3

Col.3:12-17 12 You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So
put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes.
Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient. 13 Put up with one another.
Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone.
Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these good
things put on love. Love holds them all together perfectly as if they
were one.
15 Letthe peace that Christ gives rule in your hearts. As parts of one
body, you were appointed to live in peace. And be thankful. 16 Let
the message about Christ live among you like a rich treasure.
Teach and correct one another wisely. Teach one another by
singing psalms and hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing to God
with thanks in your hearts. 17 Do everything you say or do in the
name of the Lord Jesus. Always give thanks to God the Father
through Christ.

Matt 22:39 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care
of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”

Lesson 5
Galantis 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your
freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one
another.

Week 3
Lesson 2

Matthew Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them
28:19 in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not
be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be
with you wherever you go.

Matthew While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a
26:26-28 blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take,
eat; this is My body.” And when He had taken a cup and given
thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this
is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for
forgiveness of sins.

Lesson 3

Proverbs Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who
28:13 confesses and renounces them finds mercy

Mark 6:13 And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who
were sick and healed them.

Genesis So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he
1:27-28 created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed
them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the
earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea
and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that
moves on the earth.”
Acts 20:28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the
Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God,
which he obtained with his own blood.

Week 4
Lesson 2

1 Corinthians 12 Foras the body is one and has many parts, and all the many
12:12-16
parts of that one body are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by
one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we are Jews
or Gentiles, whether we are slaves or free, and we have all been
made to drink of one Spirit. 14 The body is not one part, but many.
15 If the foot says, “Because I am not the hand, I am not of the

body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear says,

“Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not
of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the
hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the
sense of smell be? 18 But now God has established the parts,
every one of them, in the body as it has pleased Him. 19 If they
were all one part, where would the body be? 20 So there are many
parts, yet one body.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor the
head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 No, those parts of the
body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those parts
of the body which we think are less honorable, upon these we
bestow more abundant honor. And our less respectable parts are
treated with much more respect, 24 whereas our more respectable
parts have no need of this. But God has composed the body,
having given more abundant honor to that part which lacks it, 25 so
that there should be no division in the body, but that the parts
should have the same care for one another. 26 If one part suffers,
all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts
rejoice with it.

Week 5
Lesson 1
1 Corinthians 19 Doyou not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit,
6:19-20 who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not
your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with
your bodies.
